The 18-Hole Tamarack Women’s Golf Association will be holding its opening meeting on Tuesday at Tamarack Golf Course, 97 Hardenburg Lane, East Brunswick.

The association is open to women ages 18 and over with a current registration card. Membership dues are $45 and your USGA handicap may not exceed 40.

The Blue Chip Girls Basketball Shootout will be held at Seton Hall University, South Orange, on Saturday. Registration will be on-site between 8 and 8:30 a.m. with games beginning at 9 a.m.

The one-day event is designed for the student athlete who aspires to play at the college level. Each athlete will have the opportunity to compete against quality competition during the NCAA "live" period for college recruiters. Participants will play three games. South River Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading registration will be held tomorrow from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon in the South River High School cafeteria.

Registrants must provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate, the child’s Social Security Number and a recent wallet-size photo of the child (not a Pop Warner photo).

The fees for registering are: one child $55, two children $75 and three or more children $110. In addition a nonrefundable $10 equipment fee will be charged for each child.

All fees are due at registration and participants must have a physician’s approval dated in the year 2000 and a final report card submitted by July 31 in order to begin practice.

Darren Ankosko of East Brunswick won the inaugural 1,650-yard freestyle in the boys 11-and-12 age group at the New Jersey Junior Olympics swim meet at the Rutgers Aquatic Center, Piscataway. Ankosko won the race with a time of 19:56.94. He also finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle event at the meet with a time of 11:51.69.

Raritan Valley Men’s Slo-Pitch Softball League is seeking to add teams for the upcoming season. The league plays nine-inning games with unlimited arc pitching on Sundays at 10:45 a.m in East Brunswick. Play begins in April and the application deadline is April 8.
