Injured South River man gets $1M

SOUTH RIVER — A borough man hit on the side of the road while working has been awarded $1 million in damages.

Last week, Carlos Regiota was awarded $1 million in damages by state Superior Court Judge Mark Epstein, sitting in New Brunswick, for a broken right elbow and neck injuries.

According to Regiota’s attorney, James Pagliuca, of Gills and Chamas, Woodbridge, Regiota suffered the injuries after he was hit by a truck owned by Consolidated Delivery and Logistics Inc. of South Hackensack while working with a paving crew on the side of Route 179 in Flemington in 1997.

As a result of the initial accident, Pagliuca said, Regiota had to also undergo neck surgery two years later.
