Registration is being accepted for the Old Bridge ice hockey youth instructional program at the Old Bridge Sports Arena. The 11-week winter program, held on Sunday evenings beginning Dec. 10, will teach youngsters ages 5 through 12 the fundamentals of hockey, including stick handling, passing, and shooting. Participants are required to wear full equipment. The 90-minute sessions are broken into two age groups: 5-8 and 9-13. The cost is $175 for Old Bridge residents and $200 for nonresidents. The program is sponsored by the township Department of Parks, Recreation & Social Services. For more information, call John Piccolo at 721-5600, ext. 4025, or at 679-8339.

Due to the large number of calls regarding registration for the third- through eighth-grade basketball and wrestling programs in South River, a second registration will be held today and tomorrow at the middle school gym from 6:30-8 p.m., or call (732) 254-4412 to arrange for daytime registration.

The Monroe Township Recreation Department is now accepting teams and individual names for men’s under-30 winter basketball league. The fee will be determined at the first meeting after registration. To register (or for further information), call Mary Lange at (732) 723-5000. Registration is also open for an over-30 winter basketball league.

Lindsey Pritzlaff had two goals as the Monroe Panthers, an under-14 girls travel soccer team, edged the North Brunswick Wildcats 2-1. Jackie Grszka and Jessica Barszcz each picked up an assist. Cassandra Carr, Katie Minenna and Sara Feldhan had strong defensive games, while Heidi Potochar, Debbie Stelmaszczyk, Tina Maccaro and Gryszka controlled the mid-field. Gryszka and Faith Sacklow combined in goal to shut down the Wildcats attack.
