EAST BRUNSWICK — Not even frigid temperatures could keep race enthusiasts away from the township’s 38th annual Turkey Trot on Nov. 19.

Runners young and old braved the cold to compete for first-place honors in what is easily one of East Brunswick’s most time-honored traditions.

This year’s race, which was held at the East Brunswick High School football stadium, produced winners in 33 different categories. Each went home with a turkey.

This year’s Turkey Trot winners were:

• Cross Country Run: Jason Sood, Alex Shatskov, John Stislow, Robyn Pine, John Deignan, Nancy Dinkin, Antonio David, Cherie Horvath, Matthew Ruthkowski, Chris Wadhera, and Russell Green

• Crawling (9-15 months): Kiendall Westbrook and Thomas Dejohn

• Toddling (12-24 months): Christian Shelley

• Toddling (25-36 months): Veinda Sood and Ben Giordano

• Preschool (3 years old): Tess Lipman and Tom Berzok

• Preschool (4 years old): Alexandra Macniven and Kyle Potkuski

• 5-year-olds: Kristen Christensen and Robert Ukawuba

• 6-year-olds: Angela Marone and Sam Mattis

• 7-year-olds: Elise Roughan and Gregory Parry

• 8-year-olds: Harry Ukawuba

• 9-year-olds: Margo Testa and Kevin Johnson

• 10-year-olds: Kelly Gonzalez and Mike Ukawab

• 11-year-olds: Jessica Todoross and John Iko

• 12-year-olds: Tina Ukawab and Armand Lamhing

• 13-year-olds (quarter mile): Brittany Hohn and Louis Muccia

• 14-year-olds (quarter mile): Kait Barron

• 15- to 17-year-olds (quarter mile): Rebecca Blumig and Alex Shatskov

• Adult Stroller: Debbie Kusmider

• Adult quarter mile (18-22 years old): Christine Tond and Kevin Blumig

• Adult quarter mile (23-29): Debbie Kusmider

• Adult quarter mile (30-39): Theresa Sabino and Ed Lamhing

• Adult quarter mile (40-49): Sophie Wong and Steve Crosby

• Senior Citizens: Edna Bennett and Jim Wendell.

The annual Turkey Trot is organized and run by the East Brunswick Township Division of Recreation.

In lieu of an entry fee, entrants were asked to bring a donation of food for New Jersey’s homeless.
