Community Bulletin Board Special ed PTA to hold free public workshop Community Bulletin Board The Special Education PTA (SEPTA) of South River will host a free public workshop, "Strategies for Diverse Learners," from 7-9 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the South River Elementary School cafetorium, Montgomery Street. The event is designed to teach participants how to apply the latest research to improve achievement for all students. Guest speaker will be Lynda Fote of Learning Plus. Admission is free. East Brunswick theater group to stage ‘Working’ Playhouse 22 will present Working, a musical revue based on the book by Studs Terkel, at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays, Feb. 1-23, at the theater, 210 Dunhams Corner Road, East Brunswick. Auditions set in Monroe for ‘Local Stars 2002’ The Mighty Oak Players, Monroe, will hold auditions for its upcoming community show, Local Stars 2002, from 7-9 p.m. on Feb. 11, 13 and 15 in the Richard P. Marasco Performing Arts Center at Monroe Township High School, Perrineville Road. Area singers, dancers, comedians, instrumentalists, etc., are invited to try out. Show date is March 9. For more information, call (609) 395-0934. ‘Lunch and Learn’ rescheduled at temple The Temple Anshe Emeth "Lunch and Learn" with Rabbi Nathan Langer, originally set for Jan. 26, has been rescheduled to 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 9 at the temple, 88 Main St., South River. The program is sponsored by the synagogue’s Adult Education program. A Shabbat service will be followed by light refreshments and a discussion titled "Truth and Falsehood." The Wellness Education Foundation, East Brunswick, will sponsor a free community lecture on chronic fatigue syndrome at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Borders Books and Music, Mid State Mall, Route 18, East Brunswick. Matthew J. Speesler, M.D., will offer sharing, support and information on a medical breakthrough program. Topics will include symptoms such as headaches, short-term memory or concentration impairment, muscle and joint aches, low-grade temperature elevation and inability to handle stress and/or depression for at least six consecutive months.
