      The Central Jersey Chapter of the New Jersey Football Officials Association (NJFOA) is seeking candidates to become certified high school football officials in New Jersey. Candidates must be 18 years old, residents of New Jersey, and must be able to work Monday afternoons (subvarsity games) and Friday afternoons (freshman games), in addition to Friday nights and Saturday mornings (varsity games). Candidates also must be available to work as part of the chain crew on Saturday afternoons. Deadline is March 28. For more information, call (732) 251-0360.

      An Over-28 MSBL baseball team is looking for players. Games are played on Sunday mornings at Geick Park in Old Bridge. The 20-game season starts on April 7. Call Bob at (718) 388-7700 for more information, or e-mail him at oldbridgemarlin@aol.com.

      Mark Gulick, Frankie Carr and Kyle Horsch led the Monroe U12 boys travel basketball team to its first ever playoff victory on Sunday against Marlboro. Gulick led the team with 13 points while Carr and Horsch had eight points apiece. Vincent Mahmoud and Colin Horsch came off the bench with Vincent scoring seven and Colin adding five points. Joe Costa and Matt Troncone, along with Kyle Horsch, did a great job of controlling the boards with 30 rebounds combined. Troncone chipped in with four points while Costa added six assists.

      The Old Bridge Lacrosse Association Youth Lacrosse Program is for boys and girls in grades four through eighth. The season begins in March and ends in June. Registration for the spring will be held on Feb. 9 at the South Old Bridge Fire Department on Appleby Avenue and Englishtown Road, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The registration fee is $65 per player.       The Spotswood Recreation wrestling team (1-4) recently lost to Fords, 45-36, and Piscataway, 60-30. In the Fords meet on Jan. 23, Steven Baum (56) and Joe Mastromarino (110) registered falls. Receiving forfeits were Ken Szabo (85), Bob Szabo (90), Rick White (95) and Danny Taylor (100).

      In the Piscataway meet on Jan 28, Steven Baum (56), Mike Billitz (76), Bob Szabo (90), and Joe Mastromarino (110) registered falls. Danny Taylor (100) received a forfeit.       The Jamesburg Baseball Association will hold sign-ups for the 2002 season on Feb. 1 from 6-8 p.m., and Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon at Jamesburg borough hall. Registration fee is $25. Minimum age is 5 years old by July, and includes ages 13-17. For more information, call (732) 521-2218.
