Scout would like all participants to get credit for Eagle project

I am writing you in regard to the article that ran about me in the Suburban on April 11 and in the Sentinel on April 25.

My purpose is to correct a misrepresentation which was inadvertently made in that article, and to ensure that all the participants in my Eagle Scout project, especially Boy Scout Troop 220, receive proper recognition for their efforts and contributions to this project.

The articles featured a photograph of me and a couple of Scouts from our troop and provided a write-up on my Eagle Scout project. My project involved the construction of a boardwalk (4 feet by 110 feet, with an additional 10-foot section nearby), or, as termed in the article, a bridge, in Cheesequake State Park, Old Bridge. In the article, it was represented that this project had been constructed by me and just two other Scouts, Richard Zielen-kievicz and Jeff Morlend.

While we greatly appreciate the recognition you have bestowed upon us, I feel it imperative to set the record straight and assign equal recognition to the many Scouts in Troop 220, as well as many additional friends and associates who participated in this project.

This was a very big project that required a significant effort. It could not be, and, in fact was not, accomplished by just me, Richard and Jeff. Along with Jeff and Richard, it took the significant joint efforts of many of the Scouts in Troop 220, as well as our scout leader, assistant leaders, family and many friends who are not Scouts.

It is also very important for me to inform you that my scoutmaster, Mr. Gene Sempkowski, was of the utmost importance to this effort. He sacrificed an enormous amount of his time, taking away from his own business and providing materials, to help me complete this project.

I would also like to give credit to Mr. Alan Morlend, who spent countless hours with me since last summer planning and teaching me how to properly carry out a project of this magnitude.
