Holt was elected to represent both district and nation

I do not agree with your stand (in your column, "Mind Your Business, Rush, and Don’t Be Minding Theirs," which was published in the July 5 Sentinel). Congressman Rush Holt (D-12) is elected by my congressional district to represent me on issues that affect both my own district and the nation as a whole.

It is his responsibility to speak out and formulate laws that affect both our district and the whole nation. Congressman Holt is concerned about the degradation of the national parks and air pollution caused by the indiscriminate use of snowmobiles. Eventually the people of the United States will have to pay for damages. You state that money flows back to the Park Service, but you do not tell how much or the cost of the degradation. A skilled journalist would not write in vague terms but with figures supplied by the Park Service.

What specifically are the problems in the district that Congressman Holt is not addressing?

Was Dr. Pangloss right to say, "Cultivate your garden," or was John Donne right when he wrote, "No man is an island."
