      ELFREIDA G. HANSELMANN, 72, of South River died July 25 at home. Surviving is her son, Kip Palmer. Services were held at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Cremation was private.

      SALVATORE MONTALBANO, 50, of East Brunswick died July 28 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by his father, Nat Montalbano. Surviving are his mother, Nancy Montalbano of East Brunswick; a son, Salvatore Adrian Montalbano of East Brunswick; and a friend, Renee Farrar of East Brunswick. A Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 1 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

      LEILA MAROUN STADELMAN, 54, of Milltown died July 25 at her parents’ house in New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, John C. Stadelman; two sons, John and Joseph, both of Milltown; her parents, Jamil and Genevieve Maroun of New Brunswick; four brothers, the Rev. Sharbel Ghattas Maroun of Minneapolis, Nassif of the Somerset section of Franklin, and Lebnan and Maroun, both of North Brunswick; two sisters, Violette and Juliette, both of Lebanon; and 14 nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church, 526 Easton Ave., Somerset. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Sharbel Church, 7 Reeve St., Somerset, NJ 08873.

      THOMAS D. PICCIOLO, 86, of Middletown died July 29 at home. Surviving are his wife, Frances Castellano Picciolo; three sons, Frank J. Picciolo, Salvatore T. Picciolo and Thomas D. Picciolo, all of Monroe; a daughter, Josephine Agostinacchio of Middletown; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Entombment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Park Cemetery.       CHARLES MICHAEL RUSSO, 59, of East Brunswick died July 28. Surviving are his wife, Josephine Graziani Russo; a daughter, Nicole Russo of New York City; a sister, Jeannine Ventimiglia of Floral Park, N.Y.; and his mother, Theresa Russo of Floral Park. A Mass is planned for 11 a.m. on Aug. 1 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

      JOHN ROBERT SPRAGUE, 78, of East Brunswick died July 25 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Surviving are his wife, Alice "Joyce" Bell Sprague; a daughter, Cynthia Stover of Newtown, Pa.; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the East Brunswick Special Police Reserves from 1957-1973. Services were held at Simpson United Methodist Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.       THERESA C. O’REILLY HAYES, 74, of Monroe, formerly of South River, died July 24 in Morristown Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Jeremiah, died in 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Brzozowski of Howell and Laura Hayes of Highland Park; a sister, Rosemarie Papan of Kissimmee, Fla.; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

      JOSEPH M. ASCHETTINO, 22, of South River died July 23 in Thomas Jefferson Medical Center, Philadelphia, as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on July 20 in Bordentown. He was a senior majoring in communications at East Stroudsburg University, East Stroudsburg, Pa. He was a graduate of South River High School, where he was on the baseball team and lettered in wrestling and football. Surviving are his parents, Anthony and Ann Petrocelli Aschettino; two brothers, Anthony of South River and Michael of the U.S. Navy, stationed in Norfolk, Va.; his maternal grandfather, Anthony Petrocelli of Old Bridge; and his paternal grandmother, Barbara Aschettino of West Long Branch. Services were held at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.       FELIX J. FU, 20, of Jamesburg died July 27 in Beth Israel Hospital, New York City. Surviving are his parents, Felix and Norma of Jamesburg; his paternal grandmother, Maria Manging Fu of Ecuador; his maternal grandmother, Bella Montenegro of Jamesburg; two sisters, Gisella Ripp of North Brunswick and Vivian of Old Bridge; and his companion, Jocelyn Carr. Services were under the direction of Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.

      JOHN SOFILKANICH, 74, of East Brunswick died July 23 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Helen C. Nowicki; three sons, John Sofilkanich and Robert Sofilkanich, both of East Brunswick, and Donald Sofilkanich of Sayreville; and two sisters, Mary Tomcanin and Ann Sofilkanich, both of Monessen, Pa. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

      ESTELLE S. BANASIAK, 84, of Old Bridge died July 21 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Her husband, Edward S. Banasiak, died in 1983. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Edward Banasiak of Colts Neck and Gene Banasiak of Annapolis, Md.; three sisters, Mary Kizlinski of the Toms River section of Dover and Bertha "Honey" Gwizdz and Harriet Roesinger, both of Bayonne; and two grandsons. A Mass was offered at St. Lawrence Church, Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

      LUCIENNE "LUCY" VanRAEMDONCK BECK, 79, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died July 27 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Robert G. Beck, died in 1983. Surviving are a son, Charles F. of West Milford, and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette’s Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.

      LILLIAN A. HOFFMAN, 83, of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge died July 23 in Franklin Care Center, Franklin Park. She was predeceased by her husband, William Norris Hoffman, and by a son, William Hoffman. Surviving are a granddaughter, Melissa O’Callaghan of West Milford; a grandson, William Hoffman of Hillsborough; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Lawrence Church, Laurence Harbor. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

      WILLIAM M. O’NEAL, 30, of Old Bridge died July 27. Surviving are his wife, Alicia Cirello O’Neal; a son, William M. O’Neal Jr.; his parents, Alexander and Maureen O’Neal of Effort, Pa.; four brothers, David, Alex, and Michael, all of Pennsylvania, and Bobby of Staten Island, N.Y.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Maria Cirello of Old Bridge; two brothers-in-law, James and Stephen of Old Bridge; and a sister-in-law, Noelle Cirello of Old Bridge. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
