Shot through the heart: Bon Jovi unrecognized by hometown

I just watched Jon Bon Jovi on VH1. I’ve seen him numerous other times being interviewed, on Bravo, on E! and even on The Tonight Show. Invariably, he mentions that he’s from Sayreville, New Jersey.

Having grown up in Sayreville, it thrills me to hear him say that.

The program I just watched on VH1 showed footage filmed in Sayreville. It mentioned, as did Jon, that Sayreville is a nice, working-class town.

Now, here’s my problem: Sayreville doesn’t even have a sign anywhere in town saying "Home of Jon Bon Jovi." I understand that Jon donates money to the arts program in the public school system. Would it hurt to put a note on the "Welcome to Sayreville" signs all over town that someone as famous and generous as Jon Bon Jovi once lived there?

Kudos to Jon for mentioning his hometown, and shame on Sayreville for not doing the same.
