Service to community is chief priority for Assemblywoman Friscia I, too, feel the need to write about Assemblywoman Arline Friscia. I had gotten to know Arline when I started volunteering for the American Red Cross. I began doing emergency services for the organization, responding to devastating fires and floods in the community and helping those unfortunate people put their lives back together. When I first joined the Red Cross, Arline was one of my supervisors, upon whom I could call when I was out in the field alone and I had a problem I couldn’t handle by myself. She would guide me through the problem at hand. If she did not have an immediate remedy to my dilemma, she would meet with me and we would find the solution together. On many occasions because of my inexperience and the complexity of the situations, I had to call Arline for her help. She never once turned me away. I know at times I was very demanding, but she always delivered as a true volunteer and humanitarian. The majority of people in the community do not realize what is involved in helping them out in a crisis and how long and hard those volunteers work to make that help happen. I know firsthand how hard it can be, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Arline Friscia for being there with me on many nights in the rain and cold at 2 a.m., 3 a.m., or 4 a.m., doing what we do best, helping our fellow man. Arline, I never had a chance to publicly thank you and express my sincere gratitude for doing such an excellent job for the American Red Cross while we worked there together. Again, thank you and God bless you. Allen Loyer East Brunswick |
