South River residents, businesses and alumni showed generosity

Last May we decided to raise money for a baseball scoreboard in memory of Mike Zur, whom we had lost in April in a bicycle accident.

The Board of Education came back with four other names for us to consider: Christopher Dincuff, who was killed in the World Trade Center on 9/11; Andy Ivan, who was killed in Vietnam; John Fitzpatrick, who was a South River baseball coach; and John Carroll, who was also a South River baseball coach. Sadly, in July we added another name, Joey Aschettino, who was killed in a car accident.

We would like to thank all the businesses, the people of South River and alumni who donated what they could and helped us purchase a beautiful scoreboard for the team to use and remember.
