East Brunswick Babe Ruth team wins District 15

The East Brunswick 14-15-year-old all-star team won the Babe Ruth District 13 tournament and is now moving on to the state tournament.

The all-stars had to beat the defending champs, from Monroe, twice to win the district. East Brunswick won the first game 1-0 on a home run in the top of the seventh by Rick Auteri and the shutout pitching of Matthew Metsch, Ryan Cushman and Billy Krapf.

The championship game went nine innings, with East Brunswick prevailing, 7-2. Timely hitting and strong pitching from Eric Miele, Cushman and Metsch carried the team. The all-stars are Rick Auteri, Joe Fischer, Sergio Garcia, Angelo Giuffre (not eligible for this tournament), Jason Karlowski, Billy Krapf, Ryan Cushman, Armand Lamhing, Matthew Metsch, Eric Miele, David Slitsky, Angel Sotomayor and Arron Wey. The team is managed by Bill Krapf and coached by Rich Auteri, Scott Giuffre, Jose Garcia and David Metsch.
