      JOHN S. BALON JR., 58, of Maryland, formerly of Sayreville, died Aug. 20 in Hardford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, Md. Surviving are his wife, Susan Paris Balon; two sons, Christopher Balon of Sayreville and Matthew Balon of Wilmington, Del.; a daughter, Jessica Matthews of Newark, Del.; his mother, Anna Wojteszek Balon of Sayreville; a sister, Barbara Pozai of the Parlin section of Sayreville; and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.

      IDA N. BEECHER, 84, of Monroe, formerly of East Brunswick and Cranbury, died Aug. 24 in Hightstown. Her husband, Robert H. Beecher, died in 1987. Surviving are three daughters, Andrea Host of South River, Karen Williams of East Schodack, N.Y., and Barbara Zajac of Kinnelon; three sons, Robert W. of Mount Joy, Pa., Gordon F. of Richland, Wash., and David W. of Saylorsburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services are planned for 11 a.m. on Aug. 28 at Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown. Interment will follow in Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick.       GEORGE A. BRENEY, 87, of Old Bridge died Aug. 26 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. His wife, Helen Breney, died in 1982. Surviving are a nephew, James Breney, and a niece, Kathleen Breney, both of Elizabeth; and a great-nephew, Aaron Breney, also of Elizabeth. Visitation is set for 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Aug. 28 at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on Aug. 29 at St. Lawrence Church, Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge. Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Newark.

      ROBERT L. BROWN JR., 50, of Buffalo, N.Y., died Aug. 19 at home. Surviving are his mother, H. Janet Brown of Spotswood; three brothers, David Brown of Spotswood, Gregory S. Brown of North Brunswick and Scott Michael Brown of Jackson; two sisters, Nancy Newsome of Tuckerton and Diane Luden of the Browns Mills section of Pemberton; a brother-in-law, Thomas Newsome of Sayreville; and two nieces and four nephews. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.       FRANK W. COGGINS, 84, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Aug. 19 in the University of Michigan Teaching Hospital, Ann Arbor. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Wilkes Coggins; a daughter, Kimberly Skinner of Juneau, Alaska; a sister, Evelyn Carter of Newark; and six grandchildren. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Cremation was private.

      LESLIE ALIX FOSTER CUILLA, 62, of East Brunswick, formerly of Milltown, died Aug. 21 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was a paralegal with Frank T. Araps, North Brunswick, for three years. Surviving are her companion, Santo Livio; a son, Phillip of East Windsor; two daughters, Apryl Cuilla of East Brunswick and Jennifer Lieberman of South Brunswick; a sister, Dianne Layman of North Brunswick; and one granddaughter. A Mass was offered at St. Augustine Church, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Township Animal Shelter, 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ 08873.

      GEORGE J. DITTMER, 65, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Aug. 22 at home. His wife, Ann Marie Jurison Dittmer, died in 1992, and a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Dittmer, died in 1995. Surviving are a son, George J. Dittmer III of Parlin; a sister, Sister Patricia Dittmer of St. Joseph’s Convent, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette’s Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

      JOSEPH A. FARKAS, 71, of Spotswood, formerly of Old Bridge, died Aug. 13 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by a son, Andrew, in 1989, and a brother, Steven. Sur­viving are his wife, Joyce Sauss Farkas; a daughter, Pamela Lindgren, of Spotswood; a brother, Frank of Colonia; and a sister, Helen Kutis of Ohio. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Cremation was private.

      CRAIG HIGGINS, 39, of Edison died Aug. 24 at home. Surviving are his mother, Gail Higgins of Edison; a son, Thomas Higgins; two daughters, Brielle Higgins and Samantha Higgins; and three brothers, Gary Higgins of Spotswood, Matt Higgins of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Jerome Higgins of East Brunswick. A Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 28 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.

      BONNIE A. LONGEILL, 65, of Old Bridge died Aug. 18 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are her husband, Edward H. Sr., and a son, Edward H. "Ted" Jr. of Old Bridge. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Cremation was private.

      LOIS R. HERREL MITCHELL, 32, of Helmetta, formerly of Jamesburg, died Aug. 10 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was employed as a waitress/bartender at the Cambridge Inn, Spotswood. Prior to that, she worked at Musso’s Restaurant, Jamesburg. Surviving are her husband, Robert; her mother, Karen Herrel of Jackson; four brothers, Chris of New Port Richey, Fla., James of Helmetta, David of Old Bridge and Thomas of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge; and an aunt and uncle, Donna and Ed Sorbino of Monroe. Services were held at Jamesburg Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Foundation for the Blind, 11 Penn Plaza, Suite 300, New York, NY 10001.

      LOUIS S. MORGEN, 78, of Monroe, formerly of South River, died Aug. 26 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Burns Morgen; a son, Steven of East Brunswick; three daughters, Lisa Balogh of East Brunswick, Michele Freeman of Spotswood and Judith Donofrio of Farmingdale; three stepchildren, Kim, Richard and Susan; a brother, Sol Morgenstern of Delray Beach, Fla.; a sister, Tobi Berg of Long Island, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and two step-grandchil­dren. Services are planned for 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 28 at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.

      ADELINE DeCHRISTOFARO PASCIUTI, 73, of Spotswood died Aug. 23 in Monroe Village Care Center, Monroe. Her husband, Elio V. Pasciuti, died in 1993. Surviving are two sons, Michael E. Pasciuti of Monroe and Dennis O. Pasciuti of Whitehall, Pa.; three brothers, Anthony DeChristofaro of Warner Robbins, Ga., and John and Albert DeChristofaro of Lodi; two sisters, Elvira DeMattina of Fort Lee and Frances Mecca of Hoboken; and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.       FILOMENA T. PIGNANELLI, 87, of Old Bridge died Aug. 24 at home. Her hus­band, Albert, died in 1968. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bert Miglino of Old Bridge; a brother, Eugene DiNovi of Toronto, Canada; and two grand­children. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.

      PAUL N. REESE SR., 71, of Spotswood died Aug. 21 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Boyes Reese; three sons, Paul Reese of Sayreville, John Reese of Spotswood and Thomas Reese of Bordentown; two daughters, Donna Wallace of Manchester and Ruth Naef of Easton, Pa.; a brother, Robert Reese of East Brunswick; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Spotswood. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.       JEAN M. STANTON ROXBURY, 78, of South Amboy died Aug. 23 in Madison Care Center, Old Bridge. Prior to her retire­ment in 1986, she was employed for 20 years as a packer at Charles Komar and Sons, South Amboy. Her husband, Herbert L. Roxbury, died in 1986. Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Joseph Martin of South Amboy, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.
