The East Brunswick YMCA seventh-grade travel basketball team beat Old Bridge this past Sunday by the score of 46-37. The victory was a team effort all the way. Also contributing on the offensive end was David Weber (six points), Danny Turek (four points), Malik Holmes (four) points, David Swissman (two) points and Alec Mayo (two) points. The defense played solid throughout the game, holding a very good Old Bridge team to just 37 points. Michael Riccio and Brett Scharf did their part by keeping the Old Bridge guards in check as Akaash Swarup and Kenny Horsch controlled the boards. Next up for the team is the Mayors Cup, in which the boys will square up against North Brunswick, South Brunswick and Milltown in a tournament over the Valentine’s Day weekend.
