      Alexander C. Kucharski
      Obituaries Alexander C. Kucharski

      Mr. Kucharski, 82, of the Morgan section of Sayreville, formerly of South River, died Feb. 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed as a pipefitter with Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 42 years. His wife, Dorothy Chaney Kucharski, died in 1999. Surviving are a son, Alexander C. Kucharski Jr. of Morgan; two daughters, Lydia Evenga of Morgan and Deborah Fariello of Freehold; three sisters, Helen Capanna Dominiecki and Johanna Lepucki, both of South River, and Genevieve Toth of Baltimore; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.

      The Rev. R. Paul Mueller

      The Rev. Mueller, 64, of the Somerset section of Franklin died Feb. 15 at home. He was a minister at the Unitarian Society, East Brunswick, for the past 15 years, and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Society: East, Manchester, Conn. A 1985 graduate of Central Connecticut State University, New Britain, Conn., he received a master’s degree in divinity in 1988 from Andover Newton Theological School, Newton Centre, Mass. He was past chairman of the East Brunswick Clergy Council. He taught church history and polity at Moravian College, Bethlehem, Pa.; the New Brunswick Seminary; Drew University, Madison; and Union Theological Seminary, New York City. Surviving are his wife, Peg Lathrop Mueller; a son, James of Somerset; a daughter, Elizabeth Rossano of Chelmsford, Mass.; and three grandchildren. Friends and relatives may call from 7-9 p.m. on Feb. 20 at Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the Unitarian Society, 176 Tices Lane, East Brunswick.       Thomas P. Smykaj

      Mr. Smykaj, 62, of Englewood, Colo., formerly of South River, died Feb. 8 at home. He was a former physical education teacher at Jonas Salk Middle School, Old Bridge. Surviving are a daughter, Jill Lynn Ciancio of Lake Park, Fla.; a son, Paul David Smykay of North Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Stanley Smykaj of South River; a sister, Phyllis Senker of Edison; two grandchildren; an uncle; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.

      Victoria C. Pullman Bartz

      Mrs. Bartz, 83, of South River died Feb. 16 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was a retired bookkeeper. Her husband, Edward Bartz, died in 2001. Surviving are a son, Edward H. Bartz Jr. of South River; and two brothers, Frank Ricci of North Brunswick and Anthony Pullman of Virginia. Visitation will be Feb. 19 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. A funeral service will be held Feb. 20 at 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment will follow in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.

      John P. Alberts

      Mr. Alberts, 66, of East Brunswick died Feb. 13 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. Prior to his retirement six years ago, he was a salesman for 22 years with Pettibone Equipment, East Brunswick. Before that, he worked for 22 years with Berry Steel, Edison. He was a former chief, past president and life member of the East Brunswick Independent Fire Company and served as a fire commissioner from 1980-84. Surviving are his wife, Dolores Lukasik Alberts; a son, Stephen of East Brunswick; and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge.       John Faust

      Mr. Faust, 75, of South River died Feb. 15 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and East Brunswick Public Schools. Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie Faust; a daughter, Jessica Faust; two sons, Greg Faust and Scott Faust; two brothers, Harold Faust and Russell Faust; a sister, Kathryn Faust; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the South River Rescue Squad.

      Anna Mieczkowski Mroz

      Mrs. Mroz, 83, of South River died Feb. 14 in JFK Hartwyck at Edison Estates. She was employed as an inspector for eight years with Decorated Metal, Milltown. Her husband, John, died in 1992. Surviving are a son, Ken of Woodbridge; and a sister, Jessie Pensak of Pittsburgh. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, 30 Jackson St., South River, NJ 08882.

      Anna S. Reger

      Mrs. Reger, 86, of Sayreville died Feb. 12 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. Prior to her retirement in 1981, she was employed by Charles Komar Lingerie, Spotswood, where she worked for 12 years. She was predeceased by her husband, George Reger. Surviving are a son, George J. Reger of the Toms River section of Dover; two daugh­ters, Dolores Ann Malone of the Parlin section of Sayreville and Gloria Marie Beirne of Bayville; two sisters, Gloria Bach of Brookville, Ind., and Helen Grodovich of Bellmore, N.Y.; a brother, Milton McDonough of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nephews. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Cremation was private.

      Stella Ostrowski Skwiat

      Mrs. Skwiat, 83, of Sayreville died Feb. 17 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement 17 years ago, she was employed as a seam­stress with Brodsky and Sons, South River. Her husband, Joseph Skwiat, died in 2000. Surviving are two sons, Joseph and Gary, both of Sayreville; a brother, Anthony Ostrowski of the Morgan section of Sayreville; and four grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Sayreville. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville.

      Eberhard Oscar Stab

      Mr. Stab, 81, of East Brunswick, for­merly of Sayreville, died Feb. 13 in Applegarth Care Center, Monroe. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was the owner of East Brunswick Floor Waxing Co., for 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Helen Tyszko Stab; a son, James Stab of Spring Hill, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy Bothem of West Windsor; a sister, Elsie Poletti of Spring Hill; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365.

      Andrew Tomasuolo

      Mr. Tomasuolo, 87, of Monroe died Feb. 11 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Surviving are his wife, Mary Catherine; two sons, Enrico Tomasuolo of Jackson and Andrew Tomasuolo of Staten Island, N.Y.; three daughters, Carin Guarasci of Staten Island, Nancy Campanaro of Monroe and Marie Donato of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two brothers, Ernest and Vincent Tomasuolo; and four sisters, Frances Rinaldi, Jessie Carbonai, Mildred Scarpti and Molly Blanco. A service was held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, with Deacon Mark Micali officiating.

      Joan Cecilia Williams

      Mrs. Williams, 64, of Hightstown, formerly of Monroe and Jamesburg, died Feb. 10 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Bera. Surviving are her mother, Margaret; her husband, John; two sons, Alfred Muzer and Kurt Muzer; two daughters, Joan Bonain and Peggy Vingara; two brothers, Joseph Bera and Florian Bera; seven grand­children; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were un­der the direction of Murphy Funeral Home, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 N.       Harriet Marie Fastige Sobin

      Mrs. Sobin, 75, of East Brunswick died Feb. 7 at home. Her husband, John Sobin, died in 1984. Surviving are a son, John Sobin of Old Bridge; a daughter, Mary Jewell of the Franklin Park section of Franklin; a brother, Carmen Fastige of Maryland; two sisters, Mary Scheerle of Milltown and Elizabeth Sharpless of Maryland; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Rosedale Cemetery, Montclair.
