The Jersey Cynder of the Millennium Football League (mfl1.com) has scheduled a free-agent tryout camp in Northern New Jersey in preparation for their inaugural 2004 MFL season, it was announced by Cynder Owner/President, Jermaine Sanders.

The first tryout camp will be held on March 27 at the RexPlex Sports Complex in Elizabeth. The second will take place on April 10 at an undisclosed location. The full coaching staff of the Cynder will be on hand to evaluate all prospects.

At the tryouts, players will compete at the following positions: all offensive positions and defensive positions, as well as kicker/punter. Following the registration, each player will warm up and then be timed and measured in the 40-yard dash, short shuttle and other tests. Cynder coaches will then select candidates to participate in various positional drills.

The registration fee is payable in cash or postal money order only. Please make money orders payable to the Jersey Cynder. All participants are required to sign a waiver in order to participate in the tryout/combine. A registration fee of $35 must be in by the postmark date, which is a week before the camps.

After the postmark dates, the registration fee will be $45. On the day of both camps, the fee will be $45, cash only.

The registration form and waiver are on the Web site http://www.jerseycynder.com. Once completed, applicants may be sent to: Jersey Cynder Football Club, Inc., Attention: Football Personnel, 14 Treadwell St., Suite 5, Newark 07104.

The Monroe Wolverines Pop Warner Football and Cheer registration night is March 18 at the Monroe Community Center from 7-9 p.m. Registration is for Mitey Mite through Midget only. A separate registration for flag will be announced. The registration fee is $65 for the first child, $60 for the second, and $55 for the third, with a $60 work-bond fee. Registration will be limited to 35 per team. Fees will not be refunded after Aug. 15. Work bond fees will not be refunded unless all Wolverine requirements are met. Jacket and special merchandise order catalog will be handed out during registration (orders must be received no later than June 1).

Those registering must bring two checks — one for registration and one for work bond — both made out to the Monroe Wolverines. New participants must bring original birth certificates (copies will be made at Community Center), and a recent photo. A doctor’s note must be dated after Jan. 1., stamped and signed and be mailed or dropped off to the Community Center no later than July 1 — no exceptions to the Pop Warner rule.

Also, two copies of the fourth marking period report card for the school year must be mailed or dropped off no later than July 1. For more information, call Joe Martucci at (732) 521-4782.
