The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Association’s April 22 outing — stroke play minus putts (no handicap). East Brunswick’s Kathleen Farmer won the A Flight with a 33, followed by East Brunswick’s Inge Robinson (34), East Brunswick’s Marion Batchelor (36) and East Brunswick’s Marge Widder (38).

Monroe’s Joan Semen won the B Flight with a 39, followed by EB’s Joy Goldstein (44), Spotswood’s Jean Ertle (45) and New Brunswick’s Sally Hindes (45).

At the April 29 outing — colored ball tournament (pass ball around and keeps its score as well as your own averaged handicap) — the team of Inge Robinson, Diane Del Masto, Sally Deyette and Joyce Nicolaison took first with a 37, while the team of Joan Semen, Dot Terringer, Joan Hoskins and Batchelor took second with a 39. Hoskins had fewest putts with 16.

The Central Jersey Hot Shots U15 girls travel soccer team came away with a convincing 5-1 state cup victory over Cherry Hill Crush. This victory advances the Hot Shots to the next round of the state cup, where only eight teams remain. The Hot Shots next opponent is Haddon Heights, with the winner advancing to the final four.

The Hot Shots recently competed in the Premier Division of the Epic Tournament, held in Yardley, Pa. The team played with tremendous heart in coming away with two victories and two ties against Premier teams from Pennsylvania. Most of the team played every minute of the entire four-game tournament, due to injuries to other teammates. Next up is a quarterfinal state cup game against powerful Haddon Heights.

The team members are Kristina Antipin, Kaitlyn Bouchard, Carly Breining, Brittany Brodniak, Kourtney Brodniak, Casey Caruso, Melissa Demko, Kirsten Gash, Allison Healy, Shannon Mastrogiovani, Christine Noppenberger, Michelle Olivo, Lina Rivera, Samantha Robin, Kathryn Smith, Lauren Swissman and Caitlin Wescott. The team is coached by Brad Caruso, and assisted by Joe Caruso.

Sue Westock applied offensive pressure, while Gioino controlled play in the midfield. Katie Burke, who saved what looked like a sure goal by clearing two balls off the back line, led the defensive effort with help from Stephanie Grubb and Alessandra Mercuro, and keeper Chelsea Wittman.
