      Michael Caruso
      Obituaries Michael Caruso

      Mr. Caruso, 55, of Old Bridge died June 19 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He resided in Spotswood before moving to Old Bridge 12 years ago. Mr. Caruso was the postmaster at the U.S. Postal Service’s Parlin post office. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He is survived by a son, Michael Caruso of Old Bridge; a daughter, Nicole Caruso of Monroe; his fiancée, Vicki McCauley; two grandchildren; and four stepchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.

      Michael Bordak

      Mr. Bordak, 71, of Old Bridge, formerly of South River and Florida, died July 4 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Olga Kaminkov Bordak; two daughters, Lilly Gillish of South River and Lora Bordak of Old Bridge; two sisters, Helen Petys of Largo, Fla., and Mary Bordak of Ontario, Canada; and two grandchildren. Services were held at St. Euphrosynia Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Interment was in the church cemetery.

      Walter S. Meyers

      Mr. Meyers, 76, of South Amboy died July 5 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. He was predeceased by his wife, Grace Lyons Meyers; a daughter, Patricia Hessner, and her husband, Thomas; a grandson, Robert Winkowski; and a son-in-law, Emerson Deffenbach. Surviving are two daughters, Rosemarie Deffenbach of the Browns Mills section of Pemberton and Donna Winkowski of Sayreville; a brother and a sister; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin section of Sayreville. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.Michael N. Galdo

      Mr. Galdo, 92, of Spotswood died July 6 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. His wife, Margaret A. Galdo, died in 1986. Surviving are three sons, Ralph Galdo of Virginia, Daniel Galdo of Lodi and Michael Galdo of East Brunswick; two daughters, Carol Crossman of Indiana and Rose Lubrano of Spotswood; four sisters, Florence Messerole of New Brunswick, Gerry Bravo of East Brunswick, Helen DiSalvo of Union and Mary Pizzappi of Pennsylvania; and nine grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 10:15 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.       Joan Huckemeyer

      Mrs. Huckemeyer, 73, of Spotswood died July 4 in the Manor at Somerset North. Her husband, Herman Huckemeyer, died in 1980. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Huckemeyer of Massachusetts and Raymond Huckemeyer of Staten Island, N.Y.; two daughters, Joanne Spadaro of Spotswood and Theresa Badolato of Florida; a sister, Rose Dragotta of Long Island, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y.

      Francis Kessler

      Mr. Kessler, 79, of Hightstown, formerly of Spotswood, died June 30 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. His wife, Madeline Smith Kessler, died in 1999. Surviving are a stepdaughter, Eleanor Tloczynski of Levittown, Pa.; and two good friends, Pat Schiessel and Janice Sliczynski. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carmel, Pa.Cornelius M. Pennington Jr.

      Mr. Pennington, 82, of the Parlin sec­tion of Sayreville died July 30 at home. His wife, Lorraine Klingel Pennington, died in 2000. Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Pieretti of Hackettstown; a son, William Pennington of Vernon Hills, Ill.; two broth­ers, Bert Sabin of the Convent Station sec­tion of Morris and Robert Pennington of Virginia; a sister, Ethel Pennington of the Lawrence Harbor section of Old Bridge; a sister-in-law, Connie Pennington of Virginia; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Interment was in Springfield Emanuel United Methodist Cemetery, Springfield.       Veronica E. Koller Dusko

      Mrs. Dusko, 82, of Sayreville died July 2 in Summer Hill Nursing Home, Old Bridge. A seamstress and caterer for many years, she also served as a Democratic committeewoman. Surviving are her hus­band, Edward J. Dusko of Sayreville; a son, Edward J. Dusko Jr. of Watchung; three daughters, Dianna Gustavsen of Tinton Falls, Sandra Pepe of Edison and Pamela Hardy of Castle Rock, Colo.; and six grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville.

      William F. Taglieri

      Mr. Taglieri, 77, of Old Bridge died July 4 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Keavney Taglieri; three sons, William Taglieri of New Brunswick, Daniel Taglieri of Upper Freehold and Richard Taglieri of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Debra A. Dancer of Ewing; a brother, James Taglieri of the Toms River section of Dover; and two grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.Lori Renee Dreyling-Benson

      Mrs. Dreyling-Benson, 41, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of East Brunswick and the Colonia section of Woodbridge, died June 27. Surviving are her husband, Robert Benson; her mother, Phyllis Hansen Dreyling of East Brunswick; a brother, Eric Dreyling of Helmetta; two sisters, Karen Grinzo of Monroe and Sheryl Galbraith of East Brunswick; her mother-in-law, Jean Benson of Port Orange; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at Fernwood Cemetery, Jamesburg. Arrangements were under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

      Anna Morzek Pochinski

      Mrs. Pochinski, 90, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died July 4 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement in 1976, she was employed as a seamstress with Charles Komar and Son, South Amboy, and Welshire Fashions, South River. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, the former owner and op­erator of the Tiger Inn, New Brunswick. Surviving are her daughter, Sandy Jedrusiak of South Amboy; two sisters, Wanda Dellipoali of North Plainfield and Mary "Toby" Paone of Florida; two grand­daughters; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin section of Sayreville.

      Theodore J. Makowski

      Mr. Makowski, 85, of South River died July 1 in Old Bridge Manor. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was a cashier for 25 years at Frank and Al’s Grocery, South River. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Theresa Lachowiec. Surviving are a stepdaughter, Rosemary Hauge of South River; four brothers, Frank Rusin of Sayreville, Charles Rusin of South Plainfield, Walter Rusin of Warren and Chester Rusin of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sis­ters, Anna Grabowski of Matawan, Mary Michalik of Sayreville and Josephine Chmura of Philadelphia; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in the church cemetery.

      Mildred F. Stein Wyer

      Mrs. Wyer, 99, of Old Bridge died July 1 in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Her husband, Francis Wyer, died in 1934, and a son, Vincent Wyer, died in 1989. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Anne Wyer of Old Bridge; seven grandchildren, Jean Marie Brendel, Kevin Wyer, Patricia Wyer, Eileen Wyer, John Wyer, Anne Wyer and Michael Wyer; and 13 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
