      Complex offers state-of-the-art facilities

There have been numerous articles lately in the newspapers regarding the renovation of South River municipal buildings.

As a former Borough Councilman, I chaired the ad hoc committee to research and propose a new municipal complex. Other council members researched and proposed renovation of existing buildings.

Both sides were presented to the voters in a referendum. The residents chose renovation and opposed new construction.

I was in attendance when the police safety complex was dedicated. Due to prior commitments, I was not able to attend the municipal complex dedication, but I had a personal tour, given by council President David A. Sliker. My impression was of 100-percent satisfaction because you, the residents, have new and up-to-date facilities in which to conduct your business, which was my main goal with a new complex.

As far as the property at 55 Reid St., hopefully that will be renovated with the same professional planning as the other buildings.

The taxpayers voiced their decision, and I believe it is time to keep moving ahead.
