Aug. 8 was a banner day for three members of the renowned and private Forsgate Country Club, located in Monroe Township. The club’s Banks Course, recently ranked the No. 2 private golf course by New Jersey Monthly magazine, was the site of three holes-in-one — one of them scored by a 14-year-old — on the same day.

The heralded Banks Course was unveiled in 1931 and is one of two 18-hole championship golf courses at the historic Forsgate Country Club.

Walter May was the first to sink his ace, recording it at about 2 p.m., at hole No. 7, a 179-yard par three. May used a three-iron. The shot was witnessed by Robin May, his wife.

Michael Egan was next, recording his hole-in-one at hole No. 12, a 142-yard par three at approximately 3:30 p.m. Egan used an eight-iron, and had three witnesses — his son, Dennis, Dennis Grew (member), and Mr. Gasson (guest).

The final hole-in-one came on hole No. 17, a 217-yard hole, and was sunk by 14-year-old Curtis Smith at approximately 7:30 p.m. Smith used a driver, and was witnessed by Cameron Orcutt (member), Wanda Schiller (member) and John Curran (member).
