Antique appraisal event coming to E.B. Library

A limited number of tickets are still available at the East Brunswick Public Library circulation desk for What’s It Worth?, an afternoon of antique and collectible appraisals and information, set for 1:15-5 p.m. on May 1 at the library, Jean Walling Civic Center. The event is sponsored by the East Brunswick Friends of The Library.

Admission is $5 and includes two appraisals, a lecture, resource guides and refreshments. Weapons will not be accepted for appraisal. Parking is free of charge.

Appraisals will be conducted in numerical order of the tickets sold. Each ticket holder may have two items professionally appraised by Joseph Bodnar of Bodnar Auction Sales, New Brunswick, and his associates. All appraisals are verbal, nonbinding opinions of value.

The event will include a 1:30 p.m. lecture by Bodnar, during which he will discuss today’s antiques and collectibles market, what’s selling and what’s not, the impact of the Internet, estate sales, getting the best price for an item, and how to get the best value for the dollar when buying.

Related library reference materials will be on display all afternoon. A handout bibliography of books, magazines, specialty guides and Internet sites dealing with antiques and collectibles also will be available.

Light refreshments will be served at no extra charge.

For more information, call (732) 390-6783, days, or (732) 257-5820, evenings.
