      E.B. Lions will award nursing scholarship

      The East Brunswick Lions Club annually awards a four-year nursing scholarship to an East Brunswick high school senior. The recipient is given $500 for each of the four years he or she pursues a nursing degree.

      To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must be a resident of East Brunswick; attend a four-year college that offers a bachelor of science registered nurse degree; maintain passing grades each semester; and at the end of four years, receive a bachelor of science degree as a registered nurse.

      To apply, interested students must send an essay to the East Brunswick Lions Club outlining their qualifications, goals, interests and why they are best suited to receive the scholarship award. One winner will be selected. All essays become the property of the East Brunswick Lions Club and will not be returned.

      Essays should be sent to the East Brunswick Lions Club Nursing Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 144, East Brunswick, NJ 08816-0144. All essays must be received on or before May 21.

      Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue to be discussed

      The Wellness Education Foundation, East Brunswick, will present a free community program titled “Are You at Risk for Developing Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?” at 7:30 p.m. on May 12 at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center.

      Topics will include symptoms such as inability to sleep, joint or muscle pain, impaired memory or concentration, fatigue, depression, allergies, dry eyes and trouble focusing. Seminar participants will learn about the causes of the conditions and alternative treatment options.
