Spotswood Library to sponsor book sale
Hardcover books, paperbacks, children’s books, audiocassettes and videocassettes will be available. Paperbacks will sell for 50 cents each or three for $1, hardcovers for 75 cents and up, videocassettes for $1. An “All-You-Can-Carry for $5” sale is set for the last two days of the event, June 24 and 25. All sales are final. Proceeds will benefit the library and its programs. The Friends of the Men’s Club of Congregation Anshe Emeth, South River, will sponsor its annual golf outing on June 1 at Bunker Hill Golf Club, Griggstown section of Franklin. South River Seniors will hold two upcoming gatherings at the Philo Masonic Hall, 120 Old Bridge Turnpike, South River. St. Vincent de Paul Walk-a-thon planned
The annual St. Vincent de Paul Society Walk-a-thon is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. on June 4 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 460 Ryders Lane, East Brunswick. The event, which is open to all family members, will feature the walk, refreshments and raffle prizes. Three scenic routes, ranging from one-fourth of a mile to approximately three miles, have been mapped out. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a lay organization of volunteers dedicated to helping those in need, regardless of religious affiliation. Cantors will perform in June 5 temple concert
Temple B’nai Shalom, Fern and Old Stage roads, East Brunswick, will present “Cantors in Concert — Celebrating 350 Years of Jews in America,” with Cantor Faith Steinsnyder, Cantor David Perper and Cantor Andrew Edison, and featuring pianist Simona Frenkel, at 4 p.m. on June 5. Jamesburg Elks to sponsor June 18 trip to A.C.
Jamesburg Elks Lodge No. 2180 will host a June 18 bus trip to Caesars Hotel and Casino, Atlantic City. The bus will depart at noon from the lodge, 74 W. Knights to celebrate at June 4 Country Night
St. James Knights of Columbus Council No. 6336 will hold a Country Night from 8 p.m. to midnight on June 4 at the knights council home, 83 Lincoln Ave. Jamesburg. Milltown recreation plans upcoming events The Milltown Department of Recreation will offer a variety of upcoming events for both residents and nonresidents. An excursion to American Girl Place, New York City, is planned for June 24. The bus will depart at 11 a.m. from Borough Hall, Washington Avenue. Lunch is set for 2:30 p.m. Show time is 4 p.m. Cost is $70 per person. Registration is now going on for the Milltown Summer School-Age Child Care (SACC) program. A full-day summer schedule with a five-day or three-day option will be offered at two sites. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church will hold a Centennial Anniversary Tricky Tray beginning at 8 p.m. on June 10 in the church hall, 9 Jeffrie Ave., South River. Blood drive planned for June 4 at Society Hill The Blood Center of New Jersey will sponsor a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 4 in the Society Hill Clubhouse, 400 Thames Drive, Old Bridge. A free continental breakfast with coffee, tea and juice will be served in the morning. Comparable refreshments and pizza will be available in the afternoon.
