      The Sayreville Rollin’ Thunder U11 boys travel soccer team came in first place at the East Windsor Summer Blast Tournament this past Saturday. With only one sub and no guest players the boys did an outstanding job, beating the South Brunswick Heat and the Tinton Falls Panthers, both with a score of 5-0. The offense was led by Olisa Eze, Brandon Woods, Ajani Phillips, Grant Newbold, Brendan Earls, Eric Weber and Sam Sidibeh, while the defensive effort was headed by Taariq Phillips, Emeka Eze, T.J. Mastrella and Deron Stephenson. Goalie Oren Pechyony was also stellar in net. The team is coached by Wayne Woods, Thomas Mastrella and Keith Woods.

      The East Brunswick Soccer Club U12 boys premier travel team will hold tryouts (players must have been born between Aug. 1, 1993, and July 31, 1994,) on June 13 and 14 (attendance required on both days) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the East Brunswick Fairgrounds (Diderickson Field No. 2).       Players are required to bring an inflated soccer ball (size 4 or 5), something to drink, and proper equipment (cleats, shin guards, short, shirt, etc.) Parents must bring a check with them. Cost is $65 for East Brunswick residents, $75 for out-of-town players. This registration check, made out to EBSC, will be collected on June 13. Parents of children that do not subsequently play for an East Brunswick soccer team will have their check reimbursed to them. Anyone not from East Brunswick who plans on attending the tryouts should e-mail Jared Kelner at jkelner1971@aol.com to let the club know they will be coming.

      The CNJSB Lady Bombers, an U12 girls travel soccer team, will be holding tryouts for the 2005/2006 season, on Friday, June 3, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 4, at 10 a.m. Tryouts will be held at the East Brunswick Vo-Tech.       The Baseball Warehouse Instructional Academy will be holding three summer baseball camps for kids ages 7-18 years old.       The East Brunswick Explosion, a U15 girls travel soccer team (U16 in the fall) will be holding tryouts on June 7 and 8 at Dideriksen Park in East Brunswick from 6 to 8 p.m. The Explosion played in Flight 3 in the U16 division in MNJYSA this spring and is looking to move up. They do not play in the fall because of the high school soccer season. The team will train indoors beginning in January and possibly enter an indoor league for the winter. The team will then play a full spring league schedule and go to one or two tournaments in the spring. All are welcome to tryout. If interested, contact Russ at Russellgale@comcast.net

      Fast Break Basketball Association, a nonprofit youth basketball program in East Brunswick, is proud to announce its June registration for the 2005-06 season. Registration for the ’05-06 season will begin on June 4. On this day, registration will be in-person only. Mail-in registrations will be accepted after June 4. Registrations mailed in before June 4 will be returned to sender. To obtain a registration packet go to fastbreakbasketball.org. Print out your registration packet, read the entire packet, and fill out the forms prior to coming to the in-person registration. In-person registration will be held Saturday from 8-10 a.m. at the Hammarskjold School cafeteria, 200 Rues Lane, East Brunswick. Cost is $85 per child for East Brunswick residents, $95 per child for non-East Brunswick residents, and $30 per child for Buddy Ball. Travel program costs to be determined. Programs include a co-educational for grades two through 10; girls only for grades two through six; Buddy Ball; Pals; and Travel — Co-educational and Girls only teams.

      A blood drive on behalf of Frost School student Corey Muniz, 11, will be held from 2:30-7:30 p.m. on June 9 at Frost Elementary School, 65 Frost Ave., East Brunswick. Corey, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia, is going through chemotherapy and will require blood transfusions. The drive is coordinated by the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital blood program.

      A “Help Corey Conquer Cancer” Basketball Jamboree will be held June 17 from 6 to 10 p.m. and June 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Churchill Junior High School, Norton Road. The tournament will feature eight teams of fifth- and sixth-graders playing in a round-robin format. The event will also feature prizes, 50/50s, sports memorabilia, refreshments, a chance to win a 2005 Pontiac, and a dance performance by the First Position School of Dance.       The Spotswood Soccer Club will hold travel tryouts for the fall season. All boys and girls born between August 1, 1992, and July 31, 1998, are eligible. Teams will be formed in multiple age groups if there are enough players and coaches. The tryouts will be held at the Spotswood High School Soccer Fields. All interested players must attend at least one tryout. The tryouts will be on Friday, June 3 at 6 p.m., Saturday, June 4 at 10 a.m. and Friday, June 10 at 6 p.m.. Either a parent or legal guardian must accompany all participants. All players must wear cleats, shin guards and bring something to drink.       A World Cup Soccer Camp, sponsored by South River Recreation, will be held from July 18-22. Ages 8-15 ($75) will be from 9 a.m.-noon, with ages 5-7 ($70) from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Fee includes T-shirt, trophy and evaluation. Camp is open to residents and non-residents, and will be coached by South River varsity staff.
