Jeffrey Baliff, son of Ellen and Steven Baliff of Monroe, recently earned a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he was the recipient of the Dr. William B. Hawkins Award, given to a graduating medical student who manifests the late Dr. Hawkins’ high personal standards, consideration of others and dedication to scholarship. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned a bachelor’s degree, Baliff will soon begin a residency program in pathology at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia.
Michael DeLucia of East Brunswick has been awarded a bachelor of science degree in information technology with a concentration in network security from New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark. A member of the Computer Science Honor Society, he was named to the dean’s list for every semester during his college career. He will soon begin graduate studies at the NJIT Graduate School of Computer Science.
Jennifer A. Krempecki, daughter of Andrea and David Krempecki of South River, recently earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education, summa cum laude, from Loyola College in Maryland, Baltimore. She will soon begin teaching third grade at Pleasant Plains School, Towson, Md.
Danielle C. Sorensen, daughter of Brenda and Thomas Sorenson of Monroe, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Wesley College, Dover, Del., where she is majoring in education. She is a 2003 graduate of Monroe Township High School.
Christina M. Cella, daughter of Patricia and John Cella of Spotswood, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, where she is studying art education. A 2004 graduate of Spotswood High School, she plays on the university’s ladies tennis team and is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha.
Andrew Silver of East Brunswick was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) during a ceremony at Rutgers College, New Brunswick, where he recently completed his freshman year. NSCS is a national honor organization offering membership to first- and second-year college students. Membership, which is by invitation only, is based on grade-point average.
Kristen McCulloch, daughter of Karen and Hugh McCulloch of East Brunswick, has been awarded a bachelor of arts degree in communications, summa cum laude, from Rider University, Lawrenceville section of Lawrence, where she was a member of the Lambda Pi Eta communications honor society and the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honor society. She is a 2001 graduate of East Brunswick High School.
Aaron Michael Kimmel, son of Jane and Dr. Paul Kimmel of East Brunswick, has been awarded a bachelor of arts degree, magna cum laude, from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa., where he majored in mathematics and English (creative writing). He received departmental honors in English for his project “Discovering Home: Travels in New Jersey (and Part of Pennsylvania).” An honors list student and John Marshall Scholar, Kimmel was designated a John Kershner Scholar in mathematics and was selected for membership in Phi Beta Kappa honor society and Pi Mu Epsilon mathematics honor society. He is a 2001 graduate of East Brunswick High School.
Gerald P. Oliveto, son of Carol and Gerald Oliveto of East Brunswick, recently graduated with honors from Rutgers University College of Engineering, New Brunswick, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. He is a 2001 graduate of East Brunswick High School.
2nd Lt. Jeffrey Iannaccone, son of Jennifer and Jack Iannaccone of Monroe, has been awarded a bachelor’s degree in business management from the United States Air Force Academy, USAF, Colo., where he graduated with military honors. He will soon begin pilot training at Vance Air Force Base, Enid, Okla.
Melissa Adriane Ruff, daughter of Bettina Ruff of East Brunswick, recently graduated from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa., where she majored in Spanish and government. A dean’s list student, she participated in off-campus study and women’s varsity soccer and was the recipient of the Franklin and Marshall Coaches Award for women’s soccer. She is a 2001 graduate of East Brunswick High School.
The following area students recently graduated from the University of Scranton (Pa.): John P. Castellano of Spotswood, bachelor of arts in communication; Timothy P. Gibbons of Monroe, bachelor of science degree in enterprise management technology; Nicole Patrick of Milltown, bachelor of science degree in elementary education; and Denise Shanabrook of Milltown, bachelor of science degree in exercise science.
Michael John Twardos, son of Judy and Walter Twardos of the Parlin section of Sayreville, recently earned a doctor of philosophy degree in physics from the University of California at Irvine. A 1996 graduate of Sayreville War Memorial High School and a 2000 graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, he is currently doing research as a postdoctoral candidate at the National Laboratory at Los Alamos, N.M.
Corinna Lai, daughter of Tzi-Yin Lai of Old Bridge, has been awarded a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, East Lansing, Mich. She is a 1997 graduate of Old Bridge High School.
Sarah J. Roberti of Old Bridge has been awarded a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from the University of Scranton (Pa.).
Joy Godowski, daughter of Christine and Jack Godowski of Sayreville, was named to the dean’s list for the winter term at Drexel University, College of Media Arts and Design, Philadelphia, where she is a freshman majoring in digital media. She is a 2004 graduate of Bishop George Ahr High School, Edison.
