The Morgan Parlin Panther Midgets defeated the Sayreville Leprechauns in the Mayor’s Trophy game, 19-0, last weekend. The Panthers’ defense and offense were rocking in this game. The defense held the Leprechauns throughout the entire game, while the offense did its job in a game that was a special dedication to former midget head coach Greg Wasnak, who passed away. The game had much meaning for the kids and coaches as well as the entire Panther family. The game followed a memorial dedication at Waterfront Park, where a spectacular memorial was unveiled for Coach Wasnak. The entire team touched the memorial as they entered the field after a moment of silence, and the players and coaches wore white wristbands with WAS written on them. During the game, interceptions were recorded by Christopher Pearson, Jeffrey Paez and Vincent Ford, while touchdowns were scored by Paez, Kyle Seery and Pearson. Paul Hobbs scored the extra points.
