Nov. 3-Dec. 3 • Collection for Soldiers Fighting Overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, sponsored by Keith Price, a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 33, Milltown. Collection bin is in Milltown Borough Hall, 39 Washington Ave. Items sought: suntan lotion; bug spray; lip balm; feminine products; ear swabs; laundry detergent; bug wipes/bug strips; wipes (travel size); razors; toilet paper; eye drops; spices; tea bags; coffee; small drink mixes; socks; clothesline/pins; snack food; cereal/protein bars; fleece blankets; microwaveable foods (canned or boxed); hard candy/gum; writing materials; batteries (any size); calling cards; packets of hot chocolate. Contributions must be in original packaging. Keith is working to achieve Eagle Scout rank by collecting items to be sent overseas through Operation Shoebox New Jersey 2005.
Nov. 3-Dec. 4 • Holiday Grave Blanket Sale, sponsored by St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society, South River. Cost is $20 for a 36-inch blanket decorated with pine cones, poinsettias, bow. Nov. 5 • Bazaar, sponsored by the Women’s Guild of the Rossmoor Community Church, Monroe, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Rossmoor Clubhouse. Merchandise created by the group’s knitters, crafters and sewing group members; a tea room; a soup, sandwich and dessert luncheon; gourmet shop offering homemade treats; silent auction; Grandma’s Attic Sale with “white-elephant” treasures; Grandpa’s Shop with used appliances, tools and miscellaneous items; sales of used books, tapes, videos, toys and gently-used clothing. Most of the proceeds will go to 10 scholarships for Monroe Township High School students. Donations are also made to local charities. • Craft Fair, sponsored by the East Brunswick Senior Center, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Senior Center, Jean Walling Civic Center Drive. Nov. 8 • Roast Beef Election Day Dinner, sponsored by the men of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 6-6:45 p.m., in the parish hall, 90 Leonardine Ave., South River. Dinner served buffet-style.
