John Alden Buck Sr. Mr. Buck, 77, of Monroe, formerly of East Brunswick and Spotswood, died Jan. 3 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He founded Buck Bros., a highway construction company located in Edison, then East Brunswick and Monroe, in 1950. Surviving are seven children, Christine “Tina” Klitsch Shannon, Maureen “Lesley” Buck-Stone, Michael J. Buck, Stephanie P. Buck Parkerson, John A. Buck Jr., Jacqueline A. Buck Donedao and Kevin G. Buck; three brothers, Bernard “Angie,” Raymond and Larry Buck; 14 grandchildren; four grandchildren; and two former wives, Maureen Jacobsen and Dorothy Kendall Buck. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1600 Route 22, Union, NJ 07083.
Joseph Walas Mr. Walas, of East Brunswick, formerly of South River and Old Bridge, died Jan. 4 at home. Prior to his retirement in 1998, he was a manager for Akzo-Nobel, Edison, where he worked for 31 years. Surviving are his wife, Pearl Kucharski Walas; a daughter, Joanne Mikus-Ketauver of Lemoyne, Pa.; a brother, Leo of Sayreville; a sister, Dorothy Odierno of Venice, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Private services were under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick.
Arlene G. Horvath Epstein Mrs. Epstein, 56, of Spotswood, died Jan. 3 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her father, Desmond Horvath, died in 1977. Surviving are two children, Michael Cooke of the Franklin Park section of Franklin and Traci Samuel of Spotswood; her mother, Sophie Horvath of East Brunswick; a brother, Bruce Horvath of Oldsmar, Fla.; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Association, National Capital Chapter, 2121 K St. N.W., Suite 715, Washington, DC 20006.
Anna Kali Mochari Mrs. Mochari, 87, of Jamesburg, died Jan. 1 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Michael Mochari, died in 1989. Surviving are a son, Walter Mochari of South Brunswick; a brother, Charles Kali of Tennessee; a sister, Marie, in the Ukraine; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A liturgy was offered at Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Somerset section of Franklin. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
James Pozsgai Mr. Pozsgai, 67, of Monroe, formerly of Sayreville, died Jan. 3 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his wife, Ingrid Stastna Pozsgai; two daughters, Anna Weingart of Edison and Maria Soden of East Brunswick; two brothers, Zolton and Arcad, and three sisters, Maria, Aranka and Zsoka, all of Hungary; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was private. Leonard J. Wyluda Mr. Wyluda, 64, of South River, died Jan. 8 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. A history teacher at St. Mary’s High School, Perth Amboy, and St. Rose High School, Belmar, he also served as a varsity baseball coach at both schools. His father, John E. Wyluda, died in 1967. Surviving are a son, Kevin J. Wyluda of Neptune; his mother, Wanda Grobelny Wyluda of South River; and a brother, John Wyluda, also of South River. A Mass is planned for 10 a.m. on Jan. 12 at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Private cremation will follow. Memorial contribution may be made to St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, Jackson Street, South River, NJ 08882; or to the St. Rose High School Endowment Fund, Belmar.
Antonio “Tony” J. Pinho Jr. Mr. Pinho, 65, of Old Bridge, died Dec. 31 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Paula; a son, Anthony of Branchburg; a daughter, Tina Casella of Brick; and five grandchildren. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Interment was in Cloverleaf Cemetery, Woodbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 846 Main St., Fords, NJ 08863.
Lisa Alvarez Oberle Mrs. Oberle, 39, of East Brunswick, died Jan. 1 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are her husband, Gerard Oberle; two children, Paige and Gerard; her parents, Roger and Theresa Alvarez of East Brunswick; a sister, Theresa Powell of East Brunswick; and three brothers, Francis Alvarez of Ridgefield, Conn., Gregory Alvarez of Livingston and Vincent Alvarez of Middletown. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to a fund for Mrs. Oberle’s children. Arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.
