EAST BRUNSWICK — The school district has released its future plans review, which analyzed what the class of 2005 is doing now. The report was presented at the Feb. 16 Board of Education meeting.

Indicated in the report are a number of statistics regarding how the class is doing, and most are attending four-year colleges. As usual, the class is diversified, with some students going to two-year colleges or other institutions, while others went directly into full-time employment.

According to the report, 474 of the 651 students examined are attending four-year colleges. Another 138 are going to two-year schools, while nine are attending business, technical or military schools. Fifteen students went straight into employment, while two joined the armed forces. Another 13 were listed in the “other” category.

Many are attending New Jersey institutions, and of that group, most are at nearby Rutgers University in New Brunswick. According to the report, 130 are now students at Rutgers, while 74 are at other state universities, and 34 are attending private institutions in New Jersey.

Students are also attending a number of two-year colleges in the state, including Middlesex County College, Brookdale Community College in Monmouth County, and Mercer County College.

Students also decided to attend colleges that were close to home.

Of the students going to four-year schools, 238 are in New Jersey schools while 116 are in New York or Pennsylvania schools. Another 20 are in Massachusetts, while 28 are in Maryland, and 13 in Connecticut. Only a handful went farther west than Kansas, including three in California. Three students are studying in foreign countries.

The report showed that many East Brunswick graduates are attending prestigious schools. Five students are at Columbia University, and there are two each at Harvard and Cornell universities.
