Richard S. O'Such
Mr. O'Such, 63, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 2 at home. Prior to his retirement in 1999, he worked as a custodian for the Sayreville school system for 33 years. Surviving are two brothers, Peter of Parlin and Kenneth of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Diane Marple of Parlin; and a niece, Stacy. Services were private.
Erik William Sturgis
Erik, age 5, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 4 at home. He was a kindergarten student at Arleth Elementary School, Sayreville. His mother, Christina A. Dunigan Sturgis, died in 2001. Surviving are his father, Kevin W.; his maternal grandparents, Donna and Douglas Karlson of Old Bridge; two uncles, William Sturgis, U.S. Army in Iraq, and Sean Dunigan, U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq; his maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Czaja of Carteret; his paternal great-grandparents, Mildred and William Romer of North Carolina; and many great-aunts and great-uncles. A Mass was offered at Christ Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. James Doerr
Mr. Doerr, 65, of New York City, formerly of Milltown, died March 13 in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. He was an actor and a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis X. and Helen Wright Doerr, and by a brother, Francis X. Doerr III. Surviving are several cousins, including Patrick Smith, Mary Jane Riley, Tom and Jack Wright and Barbara Wright-Piersanti. Services are set for 9:45 a.m. on March 16 at Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, also Milltown. Catherine Gnacek
Ms. Gnacek, 95, of Sayreville, died March 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress with Brodsky and Sons, South River, where she worked for more than 30 years. Surviving are two brothers, Walter Gnacek and Edward Gnacek, both of Sayreville; two sisters, Josephine Klein of Sayreville and Genevieve Slater of Perth Amboy; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.
John S. Myhre Jr.
Mr. Myhre, 77, of East Brunswick, died March 4. A licensed architect, he had a career in facilities planning and business consulting. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Wagner Myhre; five children, J. Ted Myhre, Susanne Myhre, Jennifer Park, and James and Gregory Myhre; four brothers, Andy of Tampa, Fla., Leif of Bedminster, Arvid of Lambertville and Robert of Frenchtown; two sisters, Liv Olsen of Bayville and Miriam Edkins of Ocean; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services were offered at Nativity Lutheran Church, East Brunswick. Interment, with full military honors, was in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. William B. Coyne
Mr. Coyne, of East Brunswick, died March 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. He was a teacher for 25 years at Elm Street School and Thomas Alva Edison Junior High School, both Westfield. He was predeceased by his mother, Jane Carney Sinkler. Surviving is his wife, Linda Koval Coyne. Private services were under the direction of Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Yue Yee Hom
Mrs. Hom, 85, of South River, died Feb. 18 in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was affiliated with her husband in a tailoring business in South River. A son, Sue Pon Wong, died in 1990. Surviving are her husband, Koon Fong; a daughter-in-law, Sew Fung of East Brunswick; three grandsons; and five great-grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
Daniel J. Hayston Jr.
Mr. Hayston, 56, of Monroe, formerly of East Brunswick and Helmetta, died March 2 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was a teacher with the East Brunswick school system and served as boys varsity soccer coach at East Brunswick High School for 23 years. A daughter, Barbara Hayston, died in 1981, and his father, Daniel J. Hayston Sr., died in 2001. Surviving are his wife, Denise Henderson Hayston; two sons, Robert Hayston of Voorhees and Christopher Hayston of the Franklin Park section of Franklin; his mother, Patricia Roach Hayston of Florida; a brother, William Hayston of Florida; and three sisters, Joanna Rydzewski of Florida, Patricia Marrero of Pennsylvania and Cathy Columbrito of East Brunswick. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
William J. Adamec
Mr. Adamec, 74, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 1 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was employed in the research and development department at E.I. DuPont Photo Products, Parlin, where he worked for 35 years. Surviving are his wife, Joan Anderson Adamec; four children, Thomas Adamec of Rayford, N.C., William Adamec of Parlin, Amber Nicholas of Perth Amboy and Joseph Adamec of Hazlet; a brother, Paul Adamec of Florida; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Cremation was private.
Arthur J. Jones
Mr. Jones, 76, of the Toms River section of Dover, formerly of Sayreville, died March 7 in Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. He was a former owner of the Sayreville Pizzeria. Surviving are his wife, Bernadine Palovchak Jones; four daughters, Diane "DJ" Allinder of Monroe, Cindi Davitt of the Marlton section of Evesham, Karin Arnheiter of Plainsboro and Jennifer Kaye of Santa Clara, Calif.; a sister, Marie Vnuk of Plymouth, Pa.; a brother, James Jones of Dupont, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Cremation was private.
