The Central Jersey Jaguars, a local 11-year-old AAU baseball team, had a lot to celebrate after this past weekend's Pre-Season Baseball Tournament that was held at the Cheesequake Baseball Complex in Old Bridge. With one game on Saturday, and three games on Sunday, the Jaguars shut out the defending teams with scores of 11-0, 10-0, 12-0 and 10-0, respectively, making it a 43-0 tournament. Despite the cold and rainy weather, a combined effort by all the boys with powerful pitching, strong hitting, and excellent defense, paid off as they were excited to accept the first-place trophy after the championship game. It couldn't have been a more thrilling season opener for this team, who took 13th place in the U.S. at the AAU Nationals that were held last year in Charlotte, N.C. The Jaguars' head coach, Anthony Benish, and assistant coach/manager Brian Henryk, have volunteered countless hours practicing and teaching these youngsters valuable skills. The team members are Michael Carroccia, Andrew Chomiczewski, Zach DeLeon, Doug deMarrais, Joe Dudek, Wade Hoffman, Tommy Marcinczyk, Christian Meyers, Stephen Petriello, Joey Rocchietti, Brett Schweyer and Casey Wenzel.
