The Monroe Gidget Rockford Peaches just keep rolling. The Peaches won, 12-4, Saturday over the Racine Belles. Great pitching by Cindy Foresta, Margaux Petersen, Julia Scott and Kelsey Rudowitz helped bring the Peaches to victory, as well as great hitting from Julia Scott (3-for-3), Cindy Foresta (3-for-4), Lauren Carroll (3 hits), Deanna Brizak (2-for-3), Taylor Evanchik (1-for-2 with a walk), Kelsey Rudowitz (2-for-2), and Kelly Widener (two walks, run scored). Victoria Collins made a great play at first and walked three times, scoring a run. Kate Broskie made an awesome play at third base. The girls had great team work, and all contributed to the win.

The Jersey Knights Gladiators U15 (fall) girls soccer team will hold tryouts for the 2006-07 season for girls born between 8/1/91 and 7/31/92. The Gladiators are a professionally trained and coached premier-level club team comprising girls from Central Jersey. The team plays in college showcase tournaments throughout the East Coast and in the JAGS league. Tryouts will be held at the Jersey Knights complex June 3 (9-11 a.m.) and June 5 (6:30-8 p.m.). The Monroe Phoenix U10 boys soccer team beat the Clark Clippers, 2-1, this past Sunday. Mark Martin led the way, scoring both goals. The winning goal came with five minutes remaining in the game. Matthew Anderson made a beautiful cross to assist on Mark's second goal. Michael Mischler played a spectacular game, playing all 60 minutes, helping out on both offense and defense. John Cosenza and Christian Corbisiero led the offense with some great runs downfield. Richie Toth led a very stingy defense with fantastic fullback play, while Brian Sullivan and Russell Clayton played great games on both sides of the ball. Tyler Utheim was a brick wall in goal, letting up only one goal.

Raritan Bay Cougars Football and Cheerleading will hold registration at their field house on June 2, 7-9 p.m., and June 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The field house is located on Cheesequake Road. The Spotswood Soccer Club will hold tryouts for the fall 2006/spring 2007 travel soccer season on Friday, June 2, at 6:15 p.m.; Saturday, June 3, at 10 a.m.; and Friday, June 9, at 6:15 p.m. Tryouts will be held at the Spotswood High School soccer fields. All boys and girls born between August 1, 1992, and July 31, 1999, are eligible. Each participant will need to attend at least one tryout session. Either a parent or legal guardian must accompany all participants. Shin guards and cleats must be worn, and it is suggested that each participant bring a drink. East Brunswick Force U11 boys travel soccer team,. a State Cup semifinalist, won the championship at the Manalapan Memorial Day Weekend Tournament by winning four games with a total of 23 goals scored for and zero goals scored against the team. The offensive attackers are Zack Becker, Chris Bradley, Kevin Brix, Luigi Buffolino, Sean Doyle, co-captains Joseph Grimando and Nigel Joseph, as well as Joseph Lovallo and Thomas Merse. The defenders are led by Ethan Folz, Richard Kehoe, Josh Kersner, Fletcher Markulin, Nader Nashed, Dominic Polidoro and the goalie Grant Korten. Tryouts for the fall U12 season are scheduled for June 8 and 9 at 5 p.m. at Dideriksen Park in East Brunswick. The team features top flight competition and professional training. The East Brunswick Hurricanes boys travel basketball program will hold tryouts for its first year of a 9U/10U team for the upcoming 2006-2007 season. All players must be born after 7/31/1996 and must be East Brunswick residents in order to tryout for this team. Tryouts will be held in late August and early September. The Central Jersey Hot Shots, a U17 girls travel soccer team, won the Virginia Cup Tournament over Memorial Day weekend. The championship game was decided by a score of 1-0 in a hard-fought, exciting game over a tough Ohio Galaxy team. During the tournament, the Hot Shots went undefeated and posted four shutouts. This is the second tournament in a row the team won. Proud team members are Lindsey Dragline, Ashley Grabowski, Brittany Brodniak, Caitlin Flaherty, Carly Breining, Casey Caruso, Christine Noppenberger, Kate Bouchard, Kathryn Smith, Kirsten Gash, Kourtney Brodniak, Lauren Hoening, Lauren Swissman, Melissa Demko, Michelle Olivo, Morgan Brown, Shannon Mastrogiavanni and Julia Camp. The team is coached and trained by Brad Caruso, who is assisted by Alissa Kacar and Joe Caruso. This season, the Hot Shots have a 14-3-1 record.
