College schedules open house for July 13
An open house for prospective Middlesex County College (MCC) students and their families will be held from 5-7 p.m. on July 13 in the MCC College Center, Edison. High school students who are considering continuing their education at Middlesex, as well as individuals who are thinking about taking a course at the college, are invited to attend. Reservations are not required. Refreshments will be served. Professors, advisers and administrators will conduct workshops and information sessions. Representatives from all academic areas and from Project Connections, the program for college-able students with specific learning disabilities, will be in attendance. Budgerigar, parakeet show July 15 in Monroe
The Tri-State Budgerigar Society will hold its 16th annual budgerigar/parakeet show July 15 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall, 83 E. Lincoln Ave., Monroe. There will be divisions for champion, intermediate, novice, junior and pet. Bird entries close at 10 a.m., followed by judging. Vendors will be present. Admission is free and all are welcome. 'Movies in the Park' in E.B. begins July 13
The Township of East Brunswick will hold its third annual "Movies in the Park," beginning July 13 with "Madagascar." The film is rated PG. "Wallace & Grommit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit," rated G, will be shown Aug. 1. Both films are free, and the evening begins at 7:45 p.m. with clowns and cartoon characters to keep children occupied until show time at 8:45 p.m. Films are shown outdoors at the municipal pond across from East Brunswick Library, and attendees may bring lawn chairs or blankets. Auditions for 'Gypsy' July 10, 11 in Monroe
The Mighty Oak Players will hold auditions for the musical "Gypsy" 7-9 p.m. July 10 and 11. Callbacks will be July 12 at 7 p.m., and performances Aug. 25-27. Auditions will be held at the Philip P. Marasco Center for the Performing Arts at Monroe Township High School, 1629 Perrineville Road. Needed are several children and teens ages 8-18.
