French drama next up at library film festival
The 24th annual Summer International Film Festival at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center, will continue on July 18 with 1:30 and 8 p.m. screenings of the French drama "The Chorus."
The film, which was directed by Christophe Barratier, tells the tale of an aging math teacher who arrives at a boarding school for "difficult" boys and discovers that his top troublemaker has an angelic singing voice. The director, whose real-life experiences inspired the film, cast mostly amateur actors from European Bach choirs. "The Chorus" was Oscar-nominated for best foreign-language picture.
All films in the library festival will be shown in their original languages, with English subtitles as needed. Admission is free of charge. Reservations are not required.
The remaining schedule is as follows:
+ July 25 - "3-Iron," Korean, 2004, 95 minutes, rated R;
+ Aug. 1 - "Turtles Can Fly," Kurdish, 2004, 95 minutes, rated PG-13;
