The following are the results of the Tamarack Golf Association's July 7 outing. Jeff Kauffman took low gross with a 73, followed by John Lay Jr. (74) and Jeff Byrnes (75). Jeff Gulics took low net (67), followed by Lay Jr. (67) and Kauffman (67). At the July 10 outing, Grant Herring Sr. took the low gross with a 74, followed by Herman Suppe (78) and Kauffman (78). Suppe had low net (66), followed by Wes Traskiewicz (69) and George Martis (69).

On July 11, the East Brunswick Xtreme 14U softball team won the Babe Ruth District 1 Title against the Cheesequake 14U team, 6-2, to qualify for the state tournament in Hoboken. Cheesequake came into the game with an undefeated record for this tournament. This win came after a 2-1 extra-inning championship game in the Mount Olive tournament, where the girls took second place after playing a total of six games over the weekend. The team, made up mostly of the eighth- and ninth-grade softball team at Churchill Junior High School, is led by pitchers Samantha Ur and Kelsey Lynch. The other team members are Jennifer Bennett, Kristen Bennett, Jordan Blank, Amanda Friedman, Katie Jankowski, Lauren Miele, Megan Morell, Courtney Sachs, Sara Samuels and Carrie Wan. The coaches are Don Bennett, Joe Ur, John Lynch and Guido Morell.

Monroe's 11-year-old travel baseball team captured the Cal Ripken District 9 Championship with a dramatic 6-4 victory over the host team Colonia. Monroe's 11s advanced to the championship game by defeating a tough Edison team, 11-8, in semifinal action. Monroe 11s scored 62 runs in the district tournament and now moves on to the states in South Plainfield starting July 22.

The players are: Kevin Brix, Chris Cordova, Kevin Hoegler, Zach Gorham, Wesley Glessman, Kyle Crothers, Danny Marsh, Danny Soltys, Jordon Jimenez, Peter Kowal, Matt Siemons and Nick Wolfson.

The team's manager is Matt Gorham; the coaches are Wayne Cordova, Tom Crothers and Brian Marsh.

The Spotswood Soccer Club is looking for boys born between August 1994 and July 1995 to join a new U-12 boys travel team. If interested, contact Rick at (732) 416-0063 or njansson@comcast.net.

The East Brunswick Hurricanes boys travel basketball program will hold tryouts for their first year of a 9U/10U team for the upcoming 2006-07 season. All players must be born after July 31, 1996, and must be an East Brunswick resident in order to try out for this team. Tryouts will be held in late August and early September. The Monroe Township Soccer Club is still accepting registrations for the fall rec soccer season. Registration forms can be filled out and/or dropped off at the Monroe Community Center, 120 Monmouth Road.
