James A. Brauer

Mr. Brauer, 75, of Spotswood, died Aug. 15 at home. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Brown Brauer; four sons and three daughters-in-law, James and Betty Brauer of Spotswood, Jeff and Mary Brauer of Largo, Fla., Chris Brauer of East Brunswick, and Danny and Sue Brauer of East Windsor; a daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Rich Hagen of Perrineville; and 12 grandchildren. Visitation will be Aug. 17 from 3-6 p.m., and a funeral service at 5:30 p.m. at The Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Martin Birzer

Mr. Birzer, 70, of Helmetta, died Aug. 9 at home following a lengthy battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Beth Grundt Birzer; three sons, Robert Birzer of Virginia, and Jon Birzer and Martin Birzer, both of Washington; and two grandchildren. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. John J. "Jack" Prekler

Mr. Prekler, 91, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Aug. 12 at Treasure Coast Hospice Residence, Stuart, Fla. He was a retired electronics engineer at RCA Corp., Princeton. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Florence G. Prekler; three daughters, Sharon E. Danley of Cornelius, N.C., Christine E. Bravo of South River, and Jacquelin K. Harris of Port St. Lucie; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A prayer service and burial were at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, Fla.

Harold T. Slockbower

Mr. Slockbower, 75, of Spotswood, died Aug. 11 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan in 1990; a son, John in 1987; and two brothers, John and William Slockbower. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Loreta of Glen Burnie, Md., and Michael and Sharon of Spotswood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Salvatore Baglieri of Pine Hill, and Karen and Philip Morrison of Jackson; a sister, Eleanor Critelli of Millington; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. William Brown

Mr. Brown, 90, of East Brunswick, died Aug. 11 at Sunrise Assisted Living, East Brunswick. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Kowal Brown. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Allan and Robin Brown of Old Bridge, and Bruce Brown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rita Fitzgerald, and Beverly and John Decker, all of Jersey City; a sister, Arlene Maresca; and 25 grandchildren. Arrangements were by Cremation Services of Central New Jersey, East Brunswick.

Herbert Stein

Mr. Stein, 77, of East Brunswick, died Aug. 8 at home. He was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Friedman. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bernice Horowitz Stein; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and John Speldos of Monroe Township, and Janet and Robert Towers of Old Bridge; a sister, Jean Stein of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. Interment was at Floral Park Cemetery, South Brunswick. Arrangements were by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.

Marion Rohlic Tracey

Mrs. Tracey, 75, of Milltown, died Aug. 10 at Saint Peter's Medical Hospital, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Tracey in 1980. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Skolsky of East Brunswick; three sons, Robert Tracey of Orlando, Fla.; Edward Tracey of Albrightsville, Pa.; and John Tracey of Phoenix; a brother, Joseph Rohlic of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Theresa Macchia of Toms River, and Anne Kloss; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Bartholomew Church, East Brunswick. Burial was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Josephine C. Breese Anthony

Mrs. Anthony, 84, of South River, died Aug. 15 at home. Born in the Dayton section of South Brunswick, she resided in South River the past 44 years. She was a member of South River Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1977; a son, Richard K. in 1993; a daughter, Vivian Meaier in 2000; a sister, Florence Pullen in 2004; and four brothers, Walter, Alvin and William Breese, and Thomas McCabe. She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald Breese, Thomas and Cathy Anthony, Timothy and Jacqueline Anthony, and Earl Anthony, all of South River; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Elaine and Joseph Mendonza, and Maryann Formaniak, all of Jamesburg; Joann and Brian Burlew of Hazlet; Florence and Bernard Tempalski of Spotswood; and Lillian and Thomas Engelhardt of Parlin; a sister, Pearl Lewis of Mount Holly; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Aug. 18 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick. A funeral service will be Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Dayton Cemetery.

Virginia Annie Schwarz

Mrs. Schwarz, 82, of Englishtown, died July 24 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Union, she had lived in East Brunswick before moving to Englishtown 45 years ago. Mrs. Schwarz was employed as a custodian for the Englishtown school system for 12 years, and later as a tester for E.W.C. Controls, Manalapan, for 17 years, before her retirement 10 years ago. She was predeceased by her son, Charles Schwarz Jr., in 1956. Surviving are her husband, Charles Schwarz Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Nancy Schwarz of Englishtown; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Elsworth Penson of Pottsville, Pa.; a brother, Chester Coddington of Lavallette; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown. Ruth Warnsdorfer Alexander

Mrs. Alexander, 81, of East Brunswick, died Aug. 3 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was employed as a teacher at South River High School and later at St. Mary's School, South River. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kelly Ann Alexander, and by a son-in-law, Jerry Wieciek. Surviving are her husband, Anthony Alexander; three sons, Anthony Alexander Jr. and his wife Barbara of East Brunswick, Robert Alexander and his fiancee Rose Dicara of Spotswood, and David Alexander and his wife Lynn of Yardley, Pa.; two daughters, Mary Beth Wieciek of Spotswood and Barbara Biernacki and her husband Zigmond of Odessa, Fla.; a brother, Frank Warnsdorfer of Point Pleasant; a sister, Kathleen Stout of North Brunswick; and nine grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in the church cemetery, East Brunswick.
