"Entertainment 2007" books are available at the East Brunswick Library, Jean Walling Civic Center.
The books, which are usable immediately, contain discount offers on retail shopping, services, travel, dining, amusements and more.
Middlesex County and Monmouth County editions may be purchased at a cost of $25 each at the library's media services desk through Aug. 27. Books will be available only at the circulation desk beginning Aug. 28. Interested individuals may also order online by logging on to www.entertainment.com, and using the Friends identification number, 167829.
The sale is sponsored by the East Brunswick Friends of the Library. Proceeds benefit the Friends, a nonprofit, volunteer organization that supports library programs, equipment and materials.

Jamesburg Elks to hold
Sept. 16 Truck Raffle
Jamesburg Elks Lodge No. 2180 will hold its annual Truck Raffle event from 1-5 p.m. on Sept. 16 at the lodge, 74 W. Railroad Ave.
First prize will be a Ford pickup truck. Raffle tickets cost $55 each; purchase price includes food and beverages at the event.

'Rocky Horror' tryouts slated for Aug. 28, 29
Saint Genesius Players Inc. and Rutgers Cabaret Theatre will hold auditions for "The Rocky Horror Show" Aug. 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. at The Main Street Theatre at Garden Friends, 3018 Bordentown Ave., Parlin section of Sayreville.
A second set of auditions will be Sept. 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. at The Cabaret Theatre, Nichol Avenue and Suydam Street, Douglass Campus at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Callbacks will be Sept. 9 at The Cabaret. Needed are 20-25 performers. Individuals should prepare 16 measures of a song from a rock musical (songs from Rocky Horror are acceptable). An accompanist will be provided. Individuals must also be prepared to dance, and wear comfortable clothes.

Golf event will aid
Cooper Scholarship
The Cooper Classic golf outing to benefit the Chris Cooper Scholarship Fund is planned for Sept. 19 at Cruz Farms, Farmingdale. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. Shotgun start is set for 12:30 p.m.
The event will raise money for the scholarship fund, named in honor of Cooper, a 1999 Old Bridge High School (OBHS) graduate who pitched for the high school baseball team and died as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in 2003. Proceeds will help an eligible OBHS boys baseball player and an OBHS girls softball player attend college. The memory of Bob Cooper, Chris' father, also will be honored at the event.
Cost is $125 and includes green fees, golf cart, beverages and a buffet dinner at Our House, Farmingdale.

Botanical Gardens trip
will feature 'Chihuly'
The Alisa Chapter of Hadassah, the Greenbriar Yiddish Club and the Greenbriar Chapter of the Brandeis University National Women's Committee, all Monroe, will sponsor a Sept. 7 trip to the New York Botanical Gardens, the Bronx, to see "Chihuly at the Gardens," glass masterpieces by artist Dale Chihuly.
The bus will depart at 8:30 a.m. (rain or shine) from the Greenbriar adult community parking lot, Monroe. Cost is $40 per person and includes admission to the grounds, the specialty-rock and nature-plant gardens, the public tram and the Haupt Conservatory, and the viewing the Chihuly works. Lunch will be on participants' own in the garden.

Craft Fair/Gift Bazaar
The Cardinal McCarrick High School Eagle Parent Association will hold a Summer Craft Fair/Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 26 in the St. Mary's School parking lot, adjacent to the high school, Augusta Street, South Amboy. Organizers hope to make the fair an annual event.
Vendors and crafters will display and sell homemade craft items, gift baskets, floral arrangements, women's accessories, candles, decorated photo albums, wood crafts and fall and holiday items. There will be a 50/50 raffle, a bake sale, refreshments and snacks.

Residents invited to EARTH Center event
In an effort to introduce county residents to its programs and new location, the Middlesex County office of Rutgers Cooperative Research and Extension will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. on Aug. 26 at the EARTH Center, Davidson's Mill Pond Park, South Brunswick. Rain date is Aug. 27.
Representatives from all extension departments will be on hand to offer activities for the whole family and information on department programming. Visitors will be able to tour the gardens, get tips on composting techniques, learn about proper nutrition, take in a 4-H demonstration and take part in arts and crafts. There also will be a Jersey Fresh Taste Test survey (while supplies last) and free balloons for children.
Program areas will include the Agricultural Department (offering Master Gardener classes, selling soil test kits and diagnosing pest and disease samples) and the 4-H Youth Development Department, which coordinates 4-H Club activities and Project GIFT, a holiday charitable event. The EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Educational Program Department) also resides at the office and offers nutrition classes to low-income families.

Coast Guard Auxiliary to offer boating course
Coast Guard Flotilla Auxiliary 2-1, 167 Main St., Sayreville, will offer "America's Boating Course" from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on four Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 8-27. Cost is $50, including textbook. Golf outing to benefit Golden Bear Chargers
The Golden Bear Chargers (GBC) Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading organization, East Brunswick/-Spotswood, will hold its second annual Golf Outing on Sept. 8 at Cream Ridge Golf Club, 181 Route 539. Shotgun start is set for 1:30 p.m.
Cost is $110 for each individual golfer, $425 for a foursome, $100 per hole sponsor, $50 for dinner only.
