      Junior police academy was well-planned

I would like to take the time to thank Spotswood Chief of Police Karl Martin, Sgt. Chris Bierman, Officer Nicholas Mayo and the rest of the police officers who gave their time and outstanding effort in the Spotswood Junior Police Academy, held from July 17-21.

My son Anthony, who has aspirations of becoming a police officer in the future, could not get enough of the program. From the physical-conditioning training to the history of police, the K-9 dog drug presentation, motor vehicle stops, accident investigations, crime-scene information, cardiopulmonary (CPR) certification and the State Police Helicopter Unit, it was an exhilarating and informative course that was well coordinated, planned and executed.

Each officer took the time to interact with each cadet on an individual basis. They took the time to help teach, listen and provide guidance on all subjects.

The graduation ceremony with the color guard, speakers and presentation was outstanding. It was done in a way that each cadet felt involved and important.

I truly hope this program continues and is as successful for all future cadets who are willing to make the commitment.

Thank you again to all who helped coordinate and execute the academy.

      Anthony C. Joseph

      Spotswood
