Evaristo A. Barbosa
Mr. Barbosa, 94, of East Brunswick, died Oct. 30, 2006, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was a self-employed concrete contractor. Surviving are his wife, Dulce Fernandes Barbosa; two daughters, Marilyn Spencer of the Seaville section of Upper Township and Suzette Garra of Hillsdale; and five granddaughters. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Holy Cross Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick.
Nellie E. Rodriguez Conry
Mrs. Conry, 87, of East Brunswick, died Oct. 31, 2006, in Summerhill Nursing Home, Old Bridge. She was predeceased by a son, Burleigh Thornton, and by an infant daughter, Phyllis Thornton. Surviving are her husband, John J. Conry Sr.; two sons, John J. Conry Jr. of Williston, Vt., and James L. Conry of Peoria, Ariz.; two daughters, Connie Tucker of St. Albans, Vt., and Tami Phelps of Monroe; a brother, Louis Rodriguez of Hardwick, Vt.; a sister, Rumalda Whitney of Newport, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Margit Szeles Meilinger
Mrs. Meilinger, 83, of Monroe, formerly of East Brunswick, died Nov. 4, 2006, in the Elms of Cranbury. Her husband, Joseph Meilinger, died in 1998. Surviving are a daughter, Anne Kulp of Monroe; three grandchildren, David, Michael and Christopher; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
Cecelia Magiera Jones
Mrs. Jones, of South River, died Nov. 1, 2006, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary with the East Brunswick Board of Education, where she worked for 12 years. Prior to that, she worked as a secretary for the South River Board of Education and for the base commander at Camp Kilmer, Edison. Surviving are her husband, Edward Jones; a daughter, Joanne Jones of South River; three sons, Frank of South River, Lee of Spring Grove, Ill., and Adrian of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Anna Kowalewski of South River; and six grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick.
Sophie Michalowski Gruda
Mrs. Gruda, 87, of Sayreville, died Nov. 6, 2006, in the Elms of Cranbury. Her husband, Benjamin, died in 1982, and a daughter, Dolores Gruda, died in 1992. Surviving are two sons, Benjamin Gruda of Potsdam, N.Y., and Raymond Gruda of Jaffrey, N.H.; a brother, Stanley Michalowski of Jamesburg; a sister, Florence Petruska of Monroe; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on Nov. 9 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Marian Weisburd
Mrs. Weisburd, 90, of Marlboro, formerly of the Covered Bridge section of Manalapan, died Nov. 3, 2006, in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her husband, George, in 1997. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Lori and Jack Farscht of Marlboro and Reva Weisburd of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Bernard Rothy of Monroe; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Marlboro. Arrangements were under the direction of Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan.
Maryann Rose Tuzzolino D'Arecca
Mrs. D'Arecca, 68, of East Brunswick, died Nov. 2, 2006, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, John D'Arecca; two sons, John M. D'Arecca of New York City and James C. D'Arecca of Allendale; a daughter, Amy J. D'Arecca of Lake Worth, Fla.; a brother, John Tuzzolino of North Bellmore, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew's Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Sheila M. Hurley Justich
Mrs. Justich, 84, of East Brunswick, died Oct. 30, 2006, at home. Prior to her retirement in 1996, she was a sales associate at Macy's, East Brunswick, where she worked for 25 years. Her husband, Frank, died in 2004. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Justich and Ann Justich, both of East Brunswick; two sons, Robert Justich of Short Hills and Kenneth Justich of Baldwin, Wis.; two brothers, Michael and William Hurley; a sister, Margaret Hurley, of the Sisters of St. Joseph; and three grandchildren. Private services were under the arrangement of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick.
Augustine Frank Collins
Mr. Collins, 77, of Sayreville, died Nov. 2, 2006, in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Surviving are his wife, Bridget "Phil" McGovern Collins; a son, Michael of Sayreville; five daughters, Paula Collins of Manalapan, Lynda Scales and Maura Samuel, both of Sayreville, Marina McPadden of Englishtown, and Sandra Melicharek of Glen Rock; a brother, Michael "Jack" Collins of the Bronx, N.Y.; a sister, Nancy Coen of England; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin section of Sayreville.
Charles J. VanDemark
Mr. VanDemark, 98, of Spotswood, died Nov. 3, 2006, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. His wife, Edna, died in 1983. Surviving are two sons, Donald of Riverside, Conn., and Charles of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment was in Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
Santa Smidili
Mrs. Smidili, 88, of Old Bridge, died Nov. 3, 2006, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement in 1989, she was a sales associate with Stewart's, East Brunswick, where she worked for 10 years. Surviving are her husband, John J. Smidili; a son, John A. Smidili of Old Bridge; six sisters, Connie Falvo of Long Island City, N.Y., Jennie Palozzola, Rose Inglima and Mary DeCarlo, all of New York City, and Anna Iraggi and Antoinette Mauro, both of Old Bridge; and a granddaughter. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. John "Jack" Koons
Mr. Koons, 71, of Sayreville, died Oct. 30, 2006, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was employed as a laboratory supervisor at Shell Oil Co., Sewaren section of Woodbridge, where he worked for 31 years. Surviving are his wife, Bernadine Drozdowski Malkiewicz Koons; a son, John M. Koons of Goleta, Calif.; two daughters, Darlene Koons of the Parlin section of Sayreville and Michelle Uveges of Sayreville; a stepson, James Malkiewicz of the Forked River section of Dover; a stepdaughter, Patricia Tripod of South River; a brother, Edward Koons of Hanover Township, Pa.; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Daniel T. McInerney
Mr. McInerney, 34, of Old Bridge, died Nov. 4, 2006, at home. He was employed with Atlas Moving Co., East Brunswick, for the past five years. He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia McInerney. Surviving are his parents, Patricia Dalrymple McInerney of Old Bridge and James J. McInerney Sr. of South Amboy; two brothers, James J. Jr. of Glendale, Ariz., and Joseph of Old Bridge; a sister, Kathleen Christian of the Somerset section of Franklin; and three nieces and four nephews. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on Nov. 9 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
