Time to work together for a better borough

My running mate, Gerald Everest, and I would like to thank the residents of Helmetta for their support during the recent election. It would have been an honor to serve as your Borough Council members. Although the election results were not what we had hoped for, we will continue to be active members of this community.

We wish the council members-elect the best of luck during their upcoming terms of office. The next few years will be a time of great change for Helmetta, and the challenge will not be an easy one.

Living in Helmetta for many years has given us some experience about our community, and we have offered our help, in any way, to the new council members-elect.

Campaigns are over. Moving ahead and working together is the clear direction to take for the betterment of Helmetta. We also want to thank Police Chief Cully Lewis for his directions to each candidate during campaign time. His request for fair and decent campaigning was a positive note for everyone. We are proud to say that the Democrats followed his directions.

The Democratic campaign presented an honest perspective of the issues and made no personal attacks on any candidate.

Vincent Asciolla and Robert Janeczek were true gentlemen on Election Day, and we wish them and Mayor Nancy Martin and her staff every success.
