      Mitzvah Day

      PHOTOSBYSCOTT FRIEDMAN
From top to bottom: Brandon Lillian, 10, of East Brunswick, takes some apple sauce for his latkes at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick Monday. Those involved with the temple paid visits to a battered women’s shelter and the Ronald McDonald House as part of the annual Mitzvah Day. Sandy Jacob (l), of Monroe, and Marty Geller, of East Windsor, carve turkeys. The annual Christmas Day event, which has activities designed to boost the spirits of those less fortunate, culminates with a festive meal. Rachel Fried and her son, Ben, 3, of North Brunswick, make chocolate-covered pretzels to be donated to a battered women’s shelter.PHOTOSBYSCOTT FRIEDMAN From top to bottom: Brandon Lillian, 10, of East Brunswick, takes some apple sauce for his latkes at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick Monday.
