      Widen Route 535 now; drivers have suffered long enough
            Finishing the last section of Route 522 with four lanes to Route 535 is a priority this year for South Brunswick's mayor. That would expedite tractor-trailer traffic to all the warehouses along Ridge Road (Route 522) but would leave a bottleneck on the two-lane Route 535 to the New Jersey Turnpike Exit-8A area.

      Directional signals often used improperly or not at all
            Your related articles on driving practices and laws (Sentinel, Jan. 5) are appreciated. We'd like to add an observation about the appropriate use of directional signals. While driving on local roads and highways and the New Jersey Turnpike, we are struck by the improper and/or ignored use of these signals.

      Donations for needy brightened holiday season
            On behalf of Marian Rettinger, president of the General Federation of Woman's Clubs (GFWC) Woman's Club of East Brunswick, I would like to thank all club members, residents, friends and local organizations who participated in the club's requests for holiday donations of children's wrapped gifts that helped Santa Claus bring smiles to our 10 needy families.
