"Fish On!! Fish On!!" - that's what New Jersey anglers are saying after taking advantage of the unusually warm weather this weekend. Striped bass fishing was exceptionally good, as anglers were picking bass right from the surf in Sandy Hook and a good number of bass were released along the surf. The East Brunswick High School Basketball Booster Club Association will sponsor a Dining to Donate fundraiser from noon to closing on Thursday, Feb. 1, at Applebee's of Milltown, Milltown Road and Ryders Lane. Diners who eat in or take out should present a Dining to Donate flier at the restaurant. Applebee's will then donate 10 percent of supporters' bills to the booster club. More ... The Old Bridge High School ice hockey team own a 5-5-3 mark as it prepares to make its run for a New Jersey Interscholastic Ice Hockey League playoff berth. Coach Drew Campbell's undermanned Knights have played exceptionally well, especially when you consider that Old Bridge regularly employs about 10 players and shuffles junior varsity players in and out of its lineup. After a 6-0 burst from the starting gate, the Monroe High School boys basketball team has leveled off at 8-6, with losses in the Falcons' last three games, most recently Tuesday's 62-52 decision against hot White Division rival North Brunswick. And now that the 2006-07 winter sports season is well under way, coach Bo Henning has an interesting and revised assessment of his East Brunswick High School boys basketball team's prospects and performance for the season. More ... Although the youthful St. John Vianney High School wrestling team is just 3-5 at the moment, coach Matt Shepherd has his eyes set on an NJSIAA Parochial tournament berth.
