Bomber swim team is a squad on the rise

      The Sayreville High School swim team owns a 4-4 record heading into the Greater Middlesex Conference (GMC) championships on Saturday at Princeton University. The Bombers have doubled their victory total from last season, with one dual meet remaining on Monday against Mother Seton. Coach Sarah Rodis-Magaw's team has posted victories against Rahway, Linden, Franklin and Ranney Prep.

Bear teams looking to put pieces together

      In the pool and on the mats, it's been something of a mixed bag for two East Brunswick High School winter teams. The swim club, under brand-new coach Jeff Sundberg, is 8-4 on the girls' side and 4-6 on the boys'. Meanwhile, the wrestling squad, under Glen Pazinko, is 6-9 with a relatively inexperienced squad.

      With cold weather finally moving into our area, charter boat and party boat captains exercised caution due to the wintry mix of ice, snow and wind. With gale warnings in effect, this is the time of year to stay on top of the marine forecasts and be willing to cancel a trip when questionable. Bad weather will take the fun right out of sport fishing. Safety is everything.

      The Monroe U12 Lady Falcons notched their first win in the North Brunswick league this past weekend with a 26-22 win over West Windsor Plainsboro. After trailing at halftime, Monroe played solid defense and outscored their opponents 18-10 in the second half.
