      While Tigers roll, locals enjoy strong showings
      At GMC Wrestling Tournament in Piscataway
            South Plainfield is the top team in the Greater Middlesex Conference.We didn't need the GMC Tournament to tell us that, even though it did, with the Tigers winning their fourth straight team title, and ninth in the last 10 years.

      Chargers are heading back to the postseason
            With his 10-7 Spotswood High School boys basketball team having qualified for the state tournament after a two-year hiatus, head coach Steve Mate is over the moon about the Chargers' performance this season.       Talent spread throughout the Bears' indoor team
            The East Brunswick High School girls winter track team has run six dual meets thus far. Some of them have been official, some of them not, but it all adds up to a fine 5-1 record. Add to that a third-place finish in the Greater Middlesex Conference Relays, in which EBHS placed in all eight events, and it's been a pretty satisfying year for coach Brian Merrigan's Bears.

            The Monroe Lady Falcons U12 (seventh grade) basketball team improved to 2-3 in the North Brunswick eighth-grade league with a 32-21 win over the East Brunswick seventh-grade girls team. Kylie Davidson led all scorers with nine points while Jena Pritzlaff netted eight points.
