The East Brunswick Fastbreak Basketball Association sponsors competitive travel teams for grades 4-7. There is a fifth-grade basketball team from East Brunswick that's really something to be proud of. They are a group of boys who are really working hard and having great results on the court. The players are Gary Baumer, Amir Bell, Justin Danatos, Devrim Dereli, Joe Gudzak, Levi A. Holmes III, Jordan Margolin, Anik Ray, Alex Stelicos and Carl Taylor. The group competes in the North Brunswick and Central Jersey basketball leagues. They are constantly searching for other tournaments to compete in. Within the past two years, they have compiled an overall record of 45-2.
In their fourth-grade season, their list of accomplishments included the Rebounds Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament championship in Neptune, the Marlboro Holiday Tournament championship, the North Brunswick March Madness championship, and a Central Jersey championship. Their overall record was 23-1.
Their fifth-grade season's accomplishments include another Rebounds Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament championship, and a current record of 22-1.
Coaches Levi A. Holmes II, Thomas L. Bell and Kenneth Margolin are especially proud of the boys in their development and progress over the past year. The boys' hard work has resulted in great success. More importantly, the boys have learned the value of teamwork, good sportsmanship and are having lots of fun. In addition to being good basketball players on the court, their academic achievements are just as impressive off the court. The coaches hope to keep this group together to continue the rich tradition of basketball at East Brunswick High School.
