      Officials must ensure that school reaches completion
            In December 2003, approximately 5,300 Monroe voters overwhelmingly approved a referendum for a new high school plan, calling for the school to be built on 35 acres of Thompson Park. The reason so many voters in our diverse community approved this creative and cost-effective plan was because it addressed so many needs in our community, county and state.

      Cloggers support Project Linus NJ
            Blanket Mission With a Heart, a program of Project Linus NJ Inc. (PLNJ), recently received a donation of 13 fleece "hugs" made by the members of the Rhythm in Motion 4-H Cloggers Club of Middlesex County. Group members cut the fleece at their club meetings, and the blankets were delivered to the PLNJ director, Hillary Roberts.

      Why won't officials do the right thing about property taxes?
            Hogwash. That's all I can say for the comments made by Gov. Jon Corzine and elected state officials pertaining to their efforts to correct the high property-tax situation. We all agree that property taxes are negatively affecting many New Jersey residents to the extent that many are finding it necessary to leave the state. What a shame.

      Board, like football team, needs a backup strategy
            The past two Monroe Township Board of Education meetings were enlightening. The only issue of substance at the meetings was the new high school and whether it will ever be built. The current plan that calls for the school to be built in Thompson Park is in some jeopardy due to various governmental rulings.
