Jamesburg study results will be presented May 3

Master-level students at Rutgers University's Bloustein School of Public Policy and Planning will present their much-anticipated recommendations for Jamesburg's revitalization next week.

While residents are invited to attend the meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. May 3 at 33 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick, reservations are recommended. Seating is limited to 150 people.

The elaborate visual presentation will run for approximately 40 minutes, to be followed by a question-and-answer session, according to the Jamesburg Revitalization Coalition. A printed document of the recommendations will also be available.

Recommendations from the study will be used by the Jamesburg Revitalization Coalition as a guide in planning for the borough over the next decade. The coalition will work with the Borough Council and Land Use Board to achieve the desired improvements.

The graduate students' recommendations are aimed at addressing the ongoing concerns of Jamesburg residents and business owners, using feedback from surveys and meetings conducted over the past year. Examples include ways to attract certain types of retail establishments, to better use local assets such as Thompson Park, and to bring visual enhancements to the walking areas of the borough.

The Jamesburg Revitalization Coalition is a nonprofit corporation that meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in Jamesburg Borough Hall, 131 Perrineville Road. The public is invited to attend and volunteer for projects as they are created. The next regular meeting is May 17.

The coalition is in the process of developing a Web site, www.ILoveJamesburg.com.

To reserve a seat at the Bloustein School facility, which is located adjacent to the State Theatre, contact Coalition President Elliott Stroul at (732) 512-7417.
