Children's Specialized Hospital, the country's largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital, will celebrate the construction of its 10th and newest facility, PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital-New Brunswick, with a Walk 'n' Roll set for May 19 in Johnson Park, Piscataway. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.
Walk courses are 1, 2.5 or 5 miles. Wheelchairs, bikes and wagons are welcome.
The public is invited. There will be free food, music and children's activities following the walk.
The new hospital will care for children affected by traumatic brain and spinal-cord injuries as well as special needs due to premature birth. The 60-bed inpatient center is expected to open in early 2008, joining Children's Specialized sites in Mountainside, the Toms River section of Dover, Fanwood and Hamilton.

Monday Morning panel will meet on May 14
The Monday Morning Advocacy Network of Middlesex County will hold its monthly meeting from 1-3 p.m. on May 14 at the East Brunswick Public Library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive.
Members will have the opportunity to address code-enforcement and traffic-safety officials from three municipalities in Middlesex County on the topics of building accessibility and the enforcement of accessible parking laws. Plans for an activity in June to deal with problems at the New Brunswick train station will also be discussed.
The meeting will feature a celebration honoring Larry Rivera on his retirement as director of the Middlesex County Office for the Disabled.

Alzheimer's support group to meet May 17
The Alzheimer's support group will hold a meeting May 17 at 7 p.m. at Oak Woods Senior Building, 700 Woods Lane, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.
The workshop, "The ABCs of Caregiving" will be presented May 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at 3186 Route 27, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick. The free workshop is designed to assist individuals caring for an older adult in knowing when and how to intervene, and what resources are available. Seating is limited and registration is required.

E.B. affordable housing will be topic at seminar
The East Brunswick Community Housing Corporation will sponsor a seminar explaining the affordable housing opportunities in East Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on May 15 at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center.
Affordable-housing options in the township include rental units, for-sale units and financial assistance including closing-cost and down-payment subsidies and first-time mortgage programs.

Adults invited to Drum Circle Workshop
Richard Reiter's Spiritual Drum Circle Workshop is planned for 7 p.m. on May 12 at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center. The event, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, is open to all adults, regardless of the extent or the lack of their musical training.
According to Reiter, drumming together with a diverse group of people can reduce stress, bring individuals closer together and help participants celebrate life. A jazz musician, he studied African drumming in Senegal. In addition to leading a band and playing the saxophone, clarinet, flute and drums, Reiter is an educator and an Emmy-award-winning composer.

Cyclists sought for MS Bike Tour
The Mid-Jersey MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Coast the Coast Bike Tour is set for May 19 and 20. Cyclists may choose from a 25-, 50-, 85- or 170-mile tour. Villagers announces auditions for 'Tape'
The Black Box at Villagers Theatre will hold auditions for "Tape," a drama by Stephen Belber, May 14 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Franklin Township Municipal Complex, 415 Demott Lane, Somerset. Two men and one woman, age 20-35, are needed.

Registration under way for Garbarini golf event
Milltown Fire Department will present the fifth annual Charles Garbarini golf outing June 11 at Cranbury Golf Club, 49 Southfield Road, West Windsor. The shotgun scramble begins at 10 a.m.
Charles Garbarini was a Lieutenant with the New York City Fire Department, and was lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Cost is $135 per person, which includes donuts, coffee, lunch and buffet dinner. There will be prizes for winning teams, longest drives, closest to the pin, door prizes, and "Beat the Hunky." Proceeds benefit charities, and other causes requested by the Garbarini family.

Cleanup will raise
awareness of Darfur
The Committee on Conscience-New Jersey will sponsor a cleanup of Summerhill Road between Cranbury Road and Ryders Lane, East Brunswick, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on May 19.
Interested individuals, who will meet at the Bagel Cafe, 647 Route 18, East Brunswick, are invited to pick up trash and raise awareness about the genocide in Darfur, Sudan. Participants should wear a T-shirt that makes a statement. The event will begin with a letter-writing campaign to local newspapers. Talking points will be provided.

Junior Police Academy
The Spotswood Police Department is accepting applications for its third annual Junior Police Academy planned for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 20-27. Boys and girls entering grades 9-12 in the fall are invited to participate.

S. River Elementary concerts May 10, 31
Students and band members from South River Elementary School will perform spring concerts beginning May 10 with students in third and fourth grades. Fifth-grade students will perform May 31, with both concerts at 7 p.m. at the cafetorium.

Kidsworks will stage
'Rapunzel, Frog Prince'
The Sayreville Main Street Theatre Company will present its Kidsworks production of "Rapunzel and the Frog Prince" at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on May 12 and 19 and 2 p.m. on May 20 at the Main Street Theatre in Garden Friends Early Learning Center, 3018 Bordentown Ave., Parlin section of Sayreville.

card game fundraiser
The Immaculate Conception Fathers' Club of Spotswood will sponsor a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament May 19 in the auditorium at Immaculate Conception School, 23 Manalapan Road, Spotswood. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the tournament runs from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.
